You don't think that may have something to do with the stress the world has been under for the last 2 years?

Don't bother looking at other countries and how they approach their issues, we're Brits, there ain't nothing we can learn from Johnny Foreigner about how to approach social and environmental policies, nothing we can learn about outside the box thinking, we're a conservative country, ar way is working.

So Germany did much better than we did with the pandemic right?

Germany is a much nicer place than England with its supposed growing inequality

Yet in Germany drug related deaths rose by 13% in 2020 whereas in England it went up by 3.8%

What’s this? Incredible numbers granted, but an upward trend of overdose deaths in Portugal??? No surely not…..

Best not to compare such countries though

Oh come on mate, the data doesn't go back before the decriminalisation in 2001 so it's not a perfect comparison and compared to other countries Portugals death rate is low

Low comparative death rate in a country were drugs are decriminalised, imagine that!

Yeah. I remember petty crime was way down after the decriminalisation.

I prefer Japan's outlook to drugs - that's a country I'd prefer to learn from. Or maybe Korea.

I love statistics..

I have a £10 Sat Nav gives me £1, wahoo im 10% richer! i have £1000 sat nav gives me £10 im only 1% richer....

"look at their rising death rates" Nah... lets look at the low per capita base they are rising from, And lets consider *why* they are rising. Pandemic, Inflation.. Stagnant wages etc

As for "how do you expect us to implement the same policies as a country with 15% of the population"

Easy.. we will have more people paying for it.. its called scaling, And if you cant adequately scale up such projects you could always break it down to be managed on a county scale instead.

As an example, "Universally affordable healthcare is unmanageable for a country the size of the us"

Yeah, but they are a collection of States, and not one of those states has a population the size of the UK, where it *Is* manageable.

All these excuses are just ideological.

I prefer functioning law abiding democracies without theocrat influences - Singapore and Iran both fail those tests.

In the alcohol shops run by the government here there are signs warning people that if you are between 18 and 24 they may as for I.D.
In the weed shops run by the government here everyone must show I.D. before being allowed entry.
EVERYONE. And they must be over 21.
Discrimination? Fook yes.

I think they are a good counter to the ludicrous claim only Little England is concerned about drugs and all democracies will pivot towards decriminalisation and eventual commercialisation of such substances.

Would I go as far as them? Probably not. I do see a medicinal purpose for cannabis for instance.
