A harsh winter will kill a lot of pensioners off.

Maybe that’s what they’re hoping for

Don't the older generation tend to vote Tory?

Maybe they will look after them better than you might think.

Lord Frost has it spot on here...

'The next prime minister should stop focusing on “medieval technology” like offshore wind turbines and promoting “unsatisfactory” electric cars.'

Pretty sure you're on safe ground with that statement, NPE. Can't see anyone arguing.

I agree that if Sunak isn't going to win (and he won't) then he should step aside now and let Truss get on with it.

As much as I think she'll be utterly incompetent, she's going to get the gig anyway and the cost of living crisis needs addressing one way or the other immediately. Every day we delay is only going to make it worse.

Only if they are party doners. They couldn't care less about the poor pensioners.

Ms Truss today refused to offer immediate help with rocketing energy bills, amid mounting clamour for an emergency budget.

Asked repeatedly in a TV interview whether she was ruling out direct payments to households worst-hit by inflation, the foreign secretary did not deny the claim, instead saying that she wanted to focus on tax cuts.
---------

So what would be the point?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because she'd be the one in charge, and therefore fully accountable.

It would then allow all the other parties, and the electorate at large, to put pressure entirely on her. At the moment she can say and do what she wants without the pressure of being in charge.

A party hopelessly drifting in Scotland. What the internal staunch unionists have done to Scottish Labour in the last decade is a disgrace and a desertion of their roots. Rayner was incoherent at the fringe recently with her objection to an Independence Referendum. In precisely 0 instances in the last 48 (that is forty-eight) years have Scottish votes at Westminster impacted who the largest party is. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. The narrative of Labour “needing” Scotland is absolute nonsense, and has been for close to half a century.

Ukraine going on the offensive, just attacked Crimea, or Russians doing it themselves to try blame Ukraine?

Could be a lot of heat if it was actually Ukraine as could argue they’ve used some of the weapons from us and US etc to defend themselves to now attack Crimea instead and go on the offensive (not that they don’t have the right too however creates a sticky situation)

Labour MP Zarah Sultana has slammed Keir Starmer’s response to the energy bills price crisis.

She says her party “hasn’t demanded nearly enough”, and suggests that Starmer’s limp policy proposals are because, under his leadership, the party has become “afraid of its own shadow”.

She's correct.

Labour are doing what the SNP has been doing in Scotland for the last few years - trying to keep everyone happy by doing as little as possible to rock the boat.

That isn't great for those of us who want more ambitious policy

He is trying to keep it together until the next election, then try and convince the electorate that he has a mandate albeit from a party of opposing politcal views, that he can unite to form a government.
A big job on his hands, not sure he's capable though.

Starmer benefits enormously from the free ride that he's given by the news channels/programmes.

We had a great example of it the other day when he was found to have broken the mp's code of conduct 8 times.

Can you imagine the relish and overkill reporting we would have had if it had been Boris or a Tory front bencher yet it barely registered on that evenings news bulletins.

That said the Tories probably like it that way because the cost of living crisis should mean they are destroyed at the next GE but with a sanctimonious lying hypocrite leading the Labour party they've got a punchers chance.

We may have just witnessed the greatest single day of losses for the Russian Air Force, ever.

From satellite 4 hours before the explosions, I count 37 jets and 6 helicopters.

The explosions were spread out, across the area. So, maybe targeting groups of aircraft.

I don't know the ins and outs, infact I'm totally ignorant as to why they're projected a seat or two now compared to the 90s and 00s but Scotland became SNO under a Tory govt that thrives under divide n rule

Labour doesn't "need" Scotland but the UK does need Scotland to work with the opposition to this govt
