She’s doing great thank you starting to really babble away and I think only a few days away from crawling forwards (backwards she can do). Her problem is she’s got strong legs but wee t-Rex arms so struggles to push herself up 😂😂

Travelling down to London atm for a couple nights and to be honest I’m feeling very mixed. Obv will miss her loads (and the wife of course!) but 2 full nights sleep with no interruption, it’s going to be amazing 😃

How are things your end? Keeping yourself busy (and hopefully managing to not turn on the heating just yet!)

I can't see BoE not extending Friday's deadline as systemic collapse of pension funds would be terminal to economy. I'm assuming it's brinkmanship with government till they start acting in a way that is beneficial to UK economy and not disaster capitalists.

I can't see BoE not extending Friday's deadline as systemic collapse of pension funds would be terminal to economy. I'm assuming it's brinkmanship with government till they start acting in a way that is beneficial to UK economy and not disaster capitalists.

Oh they’re definitely extending. I’m caught in a protracted debate with a pal who is extremely close to all of this. I’ll be honest when I had LDI explained to me back when I was doing my masters I thought it sounded mental as an insurance person, but the pensions guys were all bought in.

The two things I don’t understand are this;

- the volatility in gilt and linkers is all over the shop, but is on a tiny volume of trades. LDI managers are trying to stick hard to mark to market and BoE unwilling to swallow any volatility. Why on Earth anyone thinks mark to market based on a tiny volume of trades, when you’ve got a huge purchaser who can save you waiting in the wings (who can also create more of what you’re selling), is a sensible basis for selling and buying is beyond me. The wee independent burger place down the road doesn’t set the price of beef, Ronald McDonald does.
- this weird game of volatility chicken between the bank and the pension funds is only going to end one way, and the folk who can print money are the ones who will be winning it.

Oh and also, mark to market works when there’s a liquid market and lots of trades to calibrate the price. That isn’t happening here (as above low volumes). Why no one is exploring a mark to model approach or a simple formula is beyond my understanding.

I didn't realise it was low volume. I assumed it was huge dumps. Given level of support. 65bn in first round doesn't seem like that low?
