Many remainers lent their vote to Labour in 2017 as a means of reversing or minimising brexit, Corbyn failed them on that so, as said, brexit was AN issue but it wasn't the only issue

After 2017 Corbyn did a number of things that turned moderates off him (Salisbury Poisoning for example), the media discourse around him was largely that he was either dangerous or a fool and probably both

And don't forget how much discourse there was around antisemitism.

It's always naive to try and look at historical events and point to one sole cause and this is no different

The shiiiiit Corbyn got over Salisbury still sticks in the throat.

A perfect example of the media establishment doing everything conceivably possible to undermine the man.

What he said was let’s determine the facts. He said to let the security services investigate before we start speculating.

That’s literally it.

Basically, in a honest, fair and transparent democratic country you allow independent criminal and judicial authorities to follow due process.

He was absolutely facking right.

It's classic Corbyn, he makes some great points in this article and calls for things that the Johnson govt ended up implementing before and after the invasion of Ukraine (Magnitsky act before, sanctions in oligarchs after)

But his call for de-escalation and "no return to the cold war" made him look weak on foreign policy, which he clearly is

He said we should send the Novichok back to Russia so they can confirm if it's theirs or not

Ok? What are you trying to draw my attention to?

https://www.politicshome.com/news/article/jeremy-corbyn-russia-must-be-given-nerve-agent-sample-so-they-can-say-if-it-is-theirs

He did say he could do business with Putin

He did say we should give them a sample of the nerve agent they used to kill people in Britain.

Look it's unfair to compare the things he said as a contrarian back bencher but when he was as weak as that they remember him saying things like "our friends at Hezbollah" and his attachment to Sinn Fein in the 80s

I think his general stance is to communicate and negotiate out of hostile situations, to de-escalate before pushing the button but that's obviously not going to work all the time and too many people saw him as weak as a result.

It also left him open to the slurs of terrorist sympathiser and russian stooge. It's of course unfair but he gave the opposition that angle with his words

leave me out of this convo please

It’s fair to argue that some of his statements were strategically ill-advised (to the point of naivety) given a) the general level of political discourse in the UK, which facking abysmal and b) the media’s agenda and incessant and savage demolition of the man’s character. That much I will give you.

Outside of the PR lens, he was absolutely correct about Salisbury.

Ironically, with the right PR bods and decent press all of the above could see him portrayed as stronger than most who just toe the line. Which for me is the case, I take him every day over the self serving sycophants who fill today's parliament. He was never going to be allowed to drag Westminster back to the place it's supposed to be. We've had suits and smiles for too long that people just accept it as normal, "what's the point, they're all the same" being the common refrain.

Why is Harry revealing he killed 25 Taliban fighters for? I guess it gets him the headline he wants

posted on 5/1/23

Has a book to sell, so far I've seen people saying he:

- Had a physical fight with Will
- Was told to wear the natsi costume by Will n Kate
- Spoke to a medium who channelled the ghost of Diana
- Has done coke
- Lost his virginity to an old woman in a field

Do people actually care about this Will and Harry stuff?

I genuinely couldn't care less but it keeps being forced on me by all the headlines.

Wouldn't surprise me if all this stuff is planned to get the Royal Family more exposure following the success of The Crown. Make the current family a running drama to keep all the nimwits interested.

posted on 5/1/23

I'd have no opinion on the royal family if people didn't talk about them or talk to me about them but whenever I get involved in the subject I realise how much I hate them and the concept of royalty

posted on 5/1/23

I don't read any of this nonsense about Harry and Megan.

The fact it winds Jeremy Clarkson and Piers Morgan up is hilarious though.

Maybe I'm missing out? Sincerely doubt it though.

Agree with that. But what really pizzes me of is the forelock tugging ¢unts who support the biggest welfare scam in history. Oh and France doesn't do too badly in tourism without a Royal Family.
Fooking land of peasants.
