There are far too many examples of police misconduct for there to be any trust in them from the public.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well this is a tough one for me because I obviously don’t accept misconduct when it happens but I accept that it will happen and will continue to happen for a long time. I just hope that it continues to decline. But this is where it gets tough because public perception is heavily skewed by what is put in front of them online / by the media. As I said hypothesised before, I bet these kind of things are less common now than they were when our parents were kids but trust is probably lower then it was then. Standards have gone up and the misconduct is caught more, reported more and made public more so it will seem worse when it actually may not be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Misconduct will always happen, agreed. But it's the covering it up, changing details of events, conveniently faulty body cams, "protect our own" mentality etc. This corruption is what leads to distrust from the public.

As I said before, we still probably only know a small portion of the misconduct that has occured within this country's policing.

I don’t think they are that bad, I’m just not passing up an opportunity to have a pop at the French.

I think there’s more to it than just misconduct, though. When you have a culture that promotes individualism and civil liberties, there will inevitably be a distrust of authority across large sections of society. Especially if you come from a marginalised background.

Yup and it’s not just distrust of literal authority. Who trusts estate agents? Plumbers? Car repairs? Politicians? We are naturally a suspicious species, although I think there is debate around that. Let’s say naturally or socialised suspicious species, it’s a defence mechanism. Trust is earned; building trust is like climbing a massive hill, losing trust is like falling down the hill. One takes ages and is difficult, the other is quick, easy and painful

Also I love how they've got a man with a Muslim name to make that statement. Do assistant chief constables usually do this? Genuine question.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, he was promoted to that position just to make that statement.

Attempted murder charge confirms it’s not mental health related and dismisses the myth that it was.

The whole world knows what type of attack this was. No doubt the media will try to keep the motives all hush hush too.

It would be if the full details were available and it was proven that the victim was an innocent bystander

The boot in the face, to a guy prone on the ground, was bad enough, the stamp on the back of the head was vicious. Get this pig to f**k.

So if he is guilty of anything, it's perfectly fine for police to kick and stamp on the head of a person prone on the ground having been tasered?

Interesting how we should wait for more details before condemning the officer but the guilt of the person kicked in the head is assumed before being proven by Boris, its bizarre.

Than again he appears to like a bit of authoritarianism.
