Looks like Kari Lake might be Trumps new press secretary. Sigh.

What's wrong about going to armistice day exactly? I assume he'll also use the time to talk to Macron, which is probably needed more than ever given Trump's just got in.

Why would he talk to Macron? He’s a dead duck as far as politics go.

And doubt they’d have the time or the inclination for a chat on such a sombre occasion.

Could be because Keir supports Israel's right to commit a genocide and Arab may think that's a bit hypocritical.

He’s President of France until (at least) April 2027, with significant control over foreign policy and military matters, including being Chief of the Armed Forces.

He’s also chair of the Council of Ministers and effectively sits as a minister. His deputy is President of the Senate.

President of the Republic is a seriously powerful role. He isn’t just a figurehead like the presidents of many other European states.

Just checked and Macron’s is also still the largest party in the coalition govt.

Not sure about who holds the majority of the ministerial roles, but my guess would be that Renaissance has more ministers than any other party.

I doubt it ever will because there will always be those who abuse their positions of power to get what they truly want.

Because De Gaulle refused to go to D Day commemorations as he viewed it as the British and Americans invading France, so British PMs would go to that instead of Paris

Starmer and Macron need to work together now with Trump in power, especially on Ukraine

146,000 Muslim-Americans voted in Michigan in 2020, so losing this group likely contributed to Harris' loss.

I mean, he’s just (personally) signed a €10bn investment partnership with Morocco and agreed to train a brigade of Ukrainian troops (as well as apparently making other military commitments) in the last week or so.

And his government is functioning, with a new PM, defeating a no confidence vote, and already passing laws (new legislation on rentals and AirBnbs this month).

So it would appear he is actually busy “enacting” stuff.

Only as and when it suits his detractors. Essentially he is hamstrung and will be out soon enough. Who to will be the burning question of course.

He’s politically a dead duck. Believe otherwise as you wish.
