There is going to come to a point where the rest of the world are going to have to declare that normal inter govermental business with the US cant continue with Trump at the helm. Where is the voice of opposition in US politics?

His rant about Climate change being the "biggest hoax ever" made me think he's simply at the WUM? 99% of all scientists who have spent their entire academic and working careers say it's happening but Donnie doesn't want to upset the money coming from the oil and gas companies etc.

Its getting to a point whereby we will all suffer for his facking idiocy and denial rather than just have to listen to his nonsensical pash
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem is people actually believe his nonsense. He could tell his supporters that the earth was flat and they'd believe it.

Completely agree.

People have been rolling over, settling out of court on cases they could probably win and more.

He’s a straight up bully and the sooner people start saying ‘Fvck you’, the better.

I suspect a large percentage of them already think this.

Some shifts in this week's voting intention as Reform’s lead over Labour narrows again: now down to just 3pts. With both Labour and Tories up

➡️ REF UK 28% (-3)
🌹 LAB 25% (+3)
🌳 CON 20% (+2)
🔶 LIB DEM 13% (-1)
🌍 GREEN 8% (nc)
🟡 SNP 3% (nc)

N=2055 |19-22/9|Change w 15/9

Palestine bounce?? This is the highest Labour score since the spring and the highest combined score for the two main parties since then and lowest Reform score since before the summer break.

Not sure Farage has helped himself with brown nosing America whilst doing his own country down. People don’t like that, especially mouth breathing ‘patriots’.

Propaganda in its purest form and both the far left/far right are slaves to it!

Probably a combination of the one in one out deal now starting, Palestine recognition, and they've announced a good chunk of infrastructure investment recently.

Will be interesting to see how Reform's ILR announcement affects things, as it goes against only wanting illegal's removed which is what they used to say.

I understand why we as a country have gassed up Trump so we get better trade deals, but here's Farage bowing down to Trump like a good boy over something as stupid as the Tylenol autism links.

https://x.com/LBC/status/1970754323521925173

"We were told thalidomide was a safe drug and it wasn't..."

Nigel Farage says he has 'no idea' if Donald Trump is right about paracetamol being linked to autism.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The amount of controls that have been put in place since the thalidomide incident is huge. The two are in no way comparable, but here we have a grifter who wants to be PM peddling a conspiracy.

It won't affect their base, we just have to hope it puts off the more balanced in the electorate.

An NHS dentist has opened near me and they have had to close applications due to getting so many in the first 48 hours. When it was announced applications were closed, the comments on it were just full of people solely blaming immigrants and claiming that immigrants all get free dental care. The country is fecked if this is how stupid the public are.

posted 1 day, 22 hours ago

1 in 4 healthcare workers are immigrants.

I really wish the facts would make their way to these utter morons. They literally don’t know what they’re talking about.

It’s fvcking embarrassing too, makes this country look utterly thick.

----
That's what I'm hoping Tam.

Not that I'd ever vote Reform but I'd like immigration to come down solely because I don't believe we build the necessary infrastructure anywhere near fast enough as it is, but you don't solve that problem by getting rid of those who are already here and integrated into their communities like those with ILR are.

It's a complete nonsense policy, and hopefully there's a decent amount of Reform leaning voters who realise that.

Xavi, sadly I dont feel there are enough who would realise it?

John Oliver did just that the other night on his Late Night Show monologue. Using those exact words.

Trump will probably deport him now.

Would never support Reform, or any other similar party (Reform is little more than a fossil fuel lobby that uses hate to convince morons to vote for them).

But there is an addiction to population growth which makes no sense to me. With slowing birth rates this is a rare opportunity to develop something beyond endless growth capitalism which is leading to unmitigated disaster.

I'm an economic migrant myself, it just seems bizarre as a species we're not embracing the idea of having a naturally shrinking population and using all the advancements in technology to weather the challenges of it. Instead it feels like a Ponzi scheme that's serving a smaller and smaller percentage of people while the world burns.

We'll always "NEED" more and more people because our economic models work that way. That is what I simply can't get my head around, the challenges of not absolutely wrecking the planet (as we and the vast majority of species we share it with know it) while growing or even maintaining the human population are not within our capability. It's absolute science fiction to pretend otherwise, it's not just carbon but everything associated with having 8 odd billion humans on the planet.

We really are the dumbest species at times.

Multiple shootings at ICE facility in Dallas

Sounds like someone’s had enough of Adolf Trump’s policies

Gives them more excuses to crack down on opponents. They'll say it was Antifa and start branding anyone they don't like as Antifa in the near future.

Socialism requires continual growth as well. There needs to be a new economic model, but that will never happen unless there is a huge revolution or catastrophic global event unfortunately.

‘Socialism’ doesn’t require continual growth.

*Some* theoretical frameworks, including probably every formulation of classical Marxism, link socialism with continuous growth to improve living standards.

But I would say most modern frameworks (particularly most ecosocialist ideas, but also democratic socialist ideas) and undoubtedly most modern socialist philosophers are concerned with degrowth.

There’s also a big difference between growth under our late capitalist paradigm (unfettered, unequal, dirty and destructive) and various visions for a sustainable, regulated, moderated, and more equitable growth propounded by other democratic socialists. (Although personally, I’d reject any model which wasn’t serious about degrowth.)

AI and automation present the perfect opportunity for a better economic model. Sadly the people in control of it will just use it to exploit the population and destroy the planet.

Here’s a very excellent book on how we could make degrowth work under a democratic socialist model:
