“Anything you can recommend? I get my Dad a couple of historical books for Christmas each year and I'm sturggling a bit this year.“
So it would appear.
How about the “History of Dyslexia”?
😂👍

I hear what you are saying Ginger. Gawd knows what I'm going to do with that warehouse...

The Strange Death of Europe by Douglas Murray.
Might seem a bit right-wing, scaremongering etc... but it's absolutely fantastic and very interesting.
Always liked and respected Douglas Murray from when he does talks on Intelligence Squared etc...so decided to give this book a go. Glad I did

My Dad's a leftie europhile who worked for the EU for 25 years so having read the book info I don't think this is for him

wiretapper ... If your old man likes humour mixed in with his history, then I can highly recommend John O'Farrell's "An Utterly Impartial History of Britain: (or 2000 Years Of Upper Class Idiots In Charge)". Genuinely funny throughout, and educational at the same time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cheers Dave, it might be a bit whimsical for him. He's a serious man that was a Uni lecteurer for many years before going to the EU.
I might get it for myself though so I've stuck it on the wishlist. I like O'Farrell, I follow him on twitter and he turns up on HIGNFY every now and then and is pretty funny
