I would have done this:

Alexis----Martial-----Jesse

------------Pogba

------Herrera----Matic

But Jose would never drop Lukaku so it would have to be Lingard or Martial to miss out.

Either way i totally agree. Herrera simply had to start today.

Even if Carrick was fit, Matic would be playing a shed load of games. Mourinho loves to overplay players and never drop them. Ivanovic is an example at Chelsea. At United it’s lukaku and matic

Just accept you're totally shiiiite! Come end of May the tables will not lie 👍🏻
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The table doesn't lie after 25 games pal. You're still 5 pts worse off and have harder last 13 games than we do.

Could be back to 8pts by Sunday.

There you have it SE.

My gripe has been allowing teams to play for some time now. I mention it every week when we struggle
to close out games.

Yeah Spurs are a very good side. But our performance warrants criticism as many of the same issues we've had for a long time are rearing their head.

The sad thing is that you won't see United playing like that and dominating midfields against the better teams like Spurs are capable of. And that's down to the coach. He doesn't want his team to play like that/can't coach them to anyway.

It's amazing the regularity in which you see the midfield in a Mourinho team get bullied nowadays. That was never the case a few years ago.

We’ve only got one tough away game to go. City away which tbh other than local pride isn’t really hugely impactful on where we’ll finish imo.

So we should fairly easily be in the top 4. We just need a good summer and have a better crack at the title next season

SO so so frustrating. Can't kick on until the midfield issues are over. City's midfield options are insanely good.

I agree to a point. But I saw us dominate the Chelsea midfield at OT last season when Pogba, Herrera and Fellaini did it to perfection

Seems odd he doesn’t use that as a blueprint and keep it going. Perhaps he may have if Fellaini was fit and if the big guy leaves this summer he’ll look to bring in a unit to help go back to that midfield three again.

Way we played that day, even Halifax's midfield would have dominated us.

Lukaku always looks knackered to be honest.Even against Yeovill he looked tired and unwieldy and that was only 10 or so minutes.
I dont think he himself can prolong pressing uptop like some forwards. He gets out of breath quite quickly in that regard.

Could be worse guys, we could have been humiliated at home by Bournemouth. Be hilarious to see what Barca do to them. I’ve said some dumb things on this site but that period of last summer where I wanted us to buy Bakayoko was up there with the worst.

The guy is so bad he actually might be the first Chelsea player to be assassinated by a drunk fan

Robb

Do us all a favour and forget about Fellaini. He isn't a midfield player and isn't good enough to play there on a regular basis.

Doing well in the odd game is not what we require.

He's invested too much into the pro Fellaini debate he won't back down now.

I think it's an overwhelming majority of Utd fans who want him gone. I'd wish him well and have no hard feelings but he's just not good enough is he? He never has been.

You think it’s just me. Jose is a huge fan. And I see why. He’s certainly good enough to be a squad player and offers something which troubles even the best sides. But sadly I think he’s off and he and Carrick will be replaced.

He won't be missed Robb. He's been a very poor signing. Just like Moyes, Utd was too big a step up for him.

Simply untrue. He was never world class but was a key part of 2 of the trophies we won.

The club will move on without him but he showed more fight and spirit than the vast majority of the signings we made since SAF left. Had plenty of good games and came up with some very important goals.

Just out of interest, how many of you were calling for Herrera to start before the match?

Blind, Jones and Fellaini are all more than capable of playing DM and are all valuable squad members

Herrera and TFM aren't either of those things. Unless the squad in question was a championship squad of course.

moving on

Pogba is class if you can actually play him where he needs to be
======
Not really. You overpayed for him massively because he's not too far ahead if the likes of Sissoko if we're being honest.

You'll never score enough goals with Pogba as your most forward midfielder. He doesn't score or create enough and isn't as good as your fans think. One day it'll sink in.

Maybe blind. The others would be a joy to the opposition.

Blind is a better footballer than Matic. Talking about people partnering him when he is the problem, can’t pass forward, run, track runners, the man is hopeless and can’t believe how average he is even with time and space. 70m for him and Lindelof was a waste on players that don’t improve squad never mind team.

posted on 1/2/18

With Pogba in the side, 433 is the best bet. But that. Was its Lukaku up top with two of Sanchez, Martial, Rashford or Lingard. And signing a Cm that's B2B and/or Carrick type player. While Matic does well, teams like Tottenham, who play through the centre will get space in the centre as Pogba isn't there to help Matic out in a 4231. We do have th players for 433 but the coaches need to put it into action.

Still, poor performances won't improve with just change of tactics. They'll happen. We need to improve as a team and not have lapses like this if we are to challenge for the title next year.

posted on 1/2/18

We have the solution to all this. Herrera playing in a midfield 3 looked brilliant for 2 games, stabilizing our midfield. Our manager quickly forgets this and shunts him out. This was a perfect game for the Pogba matic Herrera midfield. Jose facked it up.

What a crock of crap and you know it really. Started for Juve and stars for a top French team.

Pogba is a very good footballer but deep in our Midfield he's wasted.

IMO Pogba is as talented a midfielder as any in world football. People who talk about him say he has everything. The most complete midfielder out there. But mentally he is lagging behind where he should be which is something which may never be there sadly. Obviously not giving up on him but he needs that ‘First contact’ moment where he grows up and matured into who he was destined to become
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a load of sheite. He’s so incomplete is obvious to anyone hence the calls for him never to play in a 2.
