heavyweight division is in a dire situation, something that you yourself mentioned earlier. Are you just arguing for the sake of it.
--------------------
I didn't say anything of the sort, again you seem to making stuff up, saying a division as a whole is poor and equating that to a bouncer being able to mix it up with professional hw's is ridiculous, equating it to being poor is in comparison to other era's which surely you understand? if boxing started 10years ago and these were the only fighters you had seen we would be saying their amazing,
Again? when was the first time? Listen you seem a bit defensive about your mate wilder. No problem. To most people saing this is a poor heavyweight division compared to its in a dire situation are not far apart at all.
As for if boxing started 10 years ago, what a nonsensical point. Every other sport has gone forward in pace and speed and athleticism and skill. Heavyweight boxing has arguably gone backwards.
Either way you are just arguing with yourself.
"the hw division is weak atm and that includes aj and wilder who are the best of a average bunch"
"I said nothing or the sort"

bit slow today are we? being a weak division and one that is dire are quite different, so if your going to quote me at least make sure your actually quoting something factual before laughing to yourself, and saying bouncers/pub fighters are as good as some hw boxers shows the level of your boxing knowledge
So with you we need to take your comments with a pinch of salt and with mine it is taken at it's word? someones a bit angry today. Weak/Dire much the same depending on your viewpoint.
As for pub bouncer it's a saying, not meant to be meant literally but to describe someone who is not the most technical of boxers and rely's on one knock out punch.
And you have the gall to same i'm slow.

I explained already that I said average in comparison to other hw era's? did you miss that part?
you keep quoting me and again nowhere did I mention dire? you've already said depending on viewpoints that it could be interpreted differently and clearly your view of dire/average is different from mine
p.s add more smileys next time
ok mate obviously too angry for some reason.
not angry at all bud, just debating with your good self, think we can agree on aj vs wilder is the only fight worthwhile in that division
i thought ortiz was good though, and if he actually concentrated on getting fitter and in better shape could do some damage but is too old now most likely. As someone mentioned earlier in the thread, if the round was another 30 seconds then the ref may have had to call a stoppage. Wilder ate some serious punches though.
But yeah, AJ v Wilder has been the only fight worth anyones time since fury decided to stop doing anyting and had his troubles.
Ortiz was decent enough, again near the top of the division due to the lack of other good fighters really, definitely the biggest test besides aj or fury, also love the fact that his age is in contention now when just a few years ago a lot of people were saying he is being actively avoided
^ The point to make is that he WAS avoided until 'Old Father Time' did his work & took his edge off. That and the drugs stuff.
An Ortiz "a few years ago" would've finished Wilder.
Rubbish, Ortiz has always been crap
It's gone backwards.
Maybe.
Could Tyson knock out these 6 foot 5 / 6 + guys?
He's a bit short init?
Muhammed Ali - 6 foot 3, short nowadays and much lighter than the heavyweights of today.
George Foreman - 6 foot 3, known as a huge guy but in todays age quite short - he'd probably get bullied by the larger boxers.
Joe Frazier - tiny - would get bullied.
Has it really gone backwards?
The sport nowdays is just full of lanky twa ts.

So you answered your own question.
In terms of competitiveness, technique and intent it has gone downhill. And looking at some of the heavyweights, so has the fitness!
Yeah fitness, some of the bodies on these "pro" boxers are hilarious.
All they have to do is keep in shape for a living and loads of them have flab swinging around everywhere.

I don't get how you can have a fat back. I don't think I know anyone with fat on their back, actually piling over there belt. Tyson Fury im lookin at u!
Bellew will do it for the short men.
Wilder will never be a pure boxer. People expecting that from him will always be disappointed. He is what he is. A wild, power puncher.. That's what makes the AJ fight intriguing and because Wilder is awkward and not a conventional boxer, AJ could have trouble figuring him out early on atleast.
