Sterling is massive favourite, but Sane has been better imo.

Sterling is 23 years old, has over 250 senior appearances and played in a World Cup 4 years ago - really think they should re-address the criteria of this award.

Would have said sterling but hes 23 now. So maybe not.

Christensen has probably been chelseas POTY, atleast up there with hazard and kante. Rolls Royce of a player.

Can't think of many others. Sane maybe?

From reading this, Sane or Sterling are favorites.
Anyone know the age limit?

He’s still young though.

If you change the criteria you risk having a season of no stand out kids and someone winning it be default just for being young and playing some games.

Some donkey like Iwobi.

23 or under at the start of the season.

Seems older because he's been around for a while Sterling, but by the current rules he's the POTS by a mile imo. Been so productive, even if I prefer watching Sane and think he's a better player.

Would give a shout to Christensen too, only 21 and in his first PL season and seems to be the glue in holding a top 4 contenders defence together, impressive for him.

Sterling has been better than Sane for me. Come on leaps and bounds.

Sane had a bit of a dry spell for 10 games or so.

Sterling:
20 Goals in all comps
15 Goals and 6 assists in the League

Sane:
11 goals in all comps
7 goals and 10 assists the League

It has to be Sterling if he fits the criteria. No other player comes close to his record, especially when you weigh in the contribution it has made to potential Silverware.

Delle Alli is the only other real contender unless there is a Defender out there who has been pulling up trees all season and has made more of an impact than Sterling or Sane.

They might just give it to Foden for his exploits are the U17 WC. But he'd need to play a few more important games for City first.

I am sure there are young (not 23 year olds with over 250 senior appearances and a World Cup 4 years previous in his CV) players in England who have performed to a high standard this season - it doesn't have to be a PL player.

The award should represent a player who has broken through and impressed. Dele Alli in 15/16 and Wilshere in 10/11 was truly representative of what a YPOTY should be. The likes of Ashley Young and James Milner winning in the years they did (both 23 year olds with lots of experience) make it a rather sterile award imo. Senior players who are not good enough for the main award shoehorned into the young player of the year because nobody really knows anyone outside of the PL.
