Carson is well in credit with his mistakes this season.

Yes he is in credit but he is also a top pro so he will reflect on today and know he might have done better.

We think that because we got to second place that it ought to be a fairly simple thing to stay there. We got there by having a very tight defence and midfield pair, a keeper in the best form of his career, a striker in the purplest of patches and a few bits of luck. I thought we had a decent chance of seeing it through because I thought there was more to come from our other forward players. That has happened to an extent but at the other end mistakes have crept in and our luck seems to have run out. We aren’t playing for draws intentionally.

It’s still a very good season though and we have a great chance. This is far more than we all expected. Rowett still has a few players who ideally he would have moved on by now but he has done a tremendous job with what he has.

All clubs have their moaners. I doubt we have many more than most but it’s been surprising that the crowd hasn’t been more galvanised by our challenge. Under Artoo the football was distinctly mediocre but the atmosphere at games was far better. I think there was a sense of over-achievement then whereas now we have come close regularly in recent seasons and fans feel more entitled. I don’t think Rowett has received enough credit.

OK - this started out about the idea that if you've got a problem the first step to fixing it is to acknowledge it exists instead of pretending everything is fine.

It was about the way GR and the coaching staff are managing the situation.

It wasn't about fan behaviour in any way.

Yeah Wideboy, but your criteria for good and bad presuppose that automatic promotion is the expectation rather than an aspiration. Do you not think that the players are trying to win?

Vidal... I think it's fair to assume they all want to win ... on both sides.

Here’s 1 for you. Derby are paying most of Bryson’s wages. Which isn’t unusual in a loan deal and he’s even entitled to a bonus if Derby go up. Cardiff agreed a better promotion bonus if they go up. So he’s £££,s in if Cardiff go up

By the way, “If you can’t win, don’t lose” isn’t the same as saying it’s OK to draw every match. I would like us to win every game, a hundred-nil if possible. Maybe that’s unrealistic though. One point was worth more than none last time I checked.

Villa second last game of the season could yet be huge.

We've played a lot worse earlier in the season and won.

We are a lot easier on the eye at present and mainly drawing, why because silly mistakes have crept in, is this the management's fault, hardly.

We will sort the defence out and there are enough points an teams around us to make a late charge ourselves.

Believe.

I have been wondering about why our attendances are lower this season. Anyone any clues? We are more successful than last season but we are struggling to get over 26,000 for most home games. We were getting bigger crowds in the Paul Jewell/Nigel Clough era.

It assumes Derby are a club whose ambition is promotion Vidal.

My point is calling something "good" when it's continuance will cause us to finish outside the top-6 is incompatible with an ambition for promotion.

If our ambition is merely a top-half finish then yes, our current run is "good"

I don’t know who is calling it “good” Wideboy. Rowett has been critical of some of the defending in recent games, and of the lack of ruthlessness at the other end. You say it needs to start from the top but I have always found Rowett honest about performances.

At the start of the season I had always envisaged a year of transition and with the turnover of managers recently that most rams fans would expect to try to get some continuity.

So it's gone beyond expectation for me even though I predicted 5th.

It's the fear of failure in the play offs that makes the perceived failure of not getting 2nd is what's stressing plenty out.

Personally I'd rather we did it through the extended season.

Spart whether Rowett believes it or not Derby’s annual propensity for collapse has kept fans away. Thousands have decided that spending their hard earned on a bunch of bottlers is not worth it and the type of fare on offer hasn’t been pleasing on the eye this year either. Those who would have gone are listening to RD and hearing that we haven’t been convincing even when winning and are not motivated to go on.
I’ve already renewed so will be there next time regardless as will many others but it’s just down to belief for the wavers and this season they haven’t and this month they will be saying to themselves “I told you so.”

Yeah, it is a touch optimistic/unrealistic Vidal and of course it would be boring. but a change in attitude is needed. It seems that once we are a goal to the good, we can relax and rely on our, heretofore excellent defence to get us the three points. Well, in the last two matches it is our defence that has let the side down. Our two central defenders are the best in the league. It has been our full backs that aren't quite up to scratch - mainly left fullback. Forsyth hasn't improved on his down the wing forays and we have seen defensive lapses from him. And, as well Olsson isn't that good defensively. I have a feeling that most goals have come from their right wing but no stats to support this. GR needs to solve this problem and, as well, change a few players' attitude to being in front. Much as I admire very muchKeogh, I don't think he is captain material, though I wouldn't want to demoralise him by removing it from him. It's a bogger being a manager isn't it?

Get it solved Gary but know I'll support you even if we do stay unpromoted.

Yesterday 2 of the goals came from down Derbys right side. The 3rd goal was down to a bad mistake by Baird.
Regarding Keogh and the captains job. Is there anyone better suited in the squad? Keogh has players for 6 different managers at Derby (7 if you count McClaren twice) only 1 of these managers didn’t select Keogh as captain. Is that 1 person right and the others wrong?

Just returning from a skiing holiday at Stubai Glacier in Austria. Lots of British Army. Is Neustift where you go Griff?

Watched the Rams on Rams Player yesterday. Thought the commentary was excellent and honest. What has Roger Davis does to his nose?

I’m enjoying our forward play, very exciting, winning the ball deep in their half. More composure is needed at this high tempo. Looking forward to seeing Thst team with Vyddi in for Ymann.

Iwas, I’ve been to morzine with the army. I’ve been to Andorra earlier this week. It’s the 3rd year running I’ve been there with my lad. Prefer a skiing holiday to a beach holiday.

No, Maybe not Griff but I think there have been signs, many times, when the team needs to change direction mid-game. I don't know how, or if, a captain can change that, but it would be good if he could.

Ramdini ... if the captain decides to "change direction", by which im assuming you mean change tactics, then he won't be captain for very long because no manager would accept that.
If you mean "gee up the players" rhen he should be doing that all the time.
