What exactly is pogba at his best? Because we haven't seen anything like that during his time here.

Utd will strengthen the midfield in the summer, McTominay, as good as he's been will most likely not play as much?

Jose likes Marc and Pogba will defo play, who will come in? No idea if honest but imo someone will

I'm assuming its some remotely better than the usual 5/10 performance he serves up.

We've made too many vanity signings and I think it's upset the team cohesion. We still get results because we've got so many quality players but we don't look like a team at all.

I'm struggling to pick a formation with Pogba Lukaku Martial and Sanchez all in it and the team looks balanced.

We shall see what happens in the summer but right now it looks a bit of a collection of big names rather than a well oiled machine that Jose usually has.

We have some great attacking options when you look at the team on paper.

With the four players you've mentioned perhaps a diamond would work with Matic at the base, McT/Herrera on the right, Pogba on the left and Sanchez at its tip. Martial and Lukaku then up front.

It wouldn't be a rigid formation though and I'd expect Martial, Lukaku and Sanchez to peel wide during games allowing Pogba a bit of freedom to run into the space that the forwards would theoretically create.

The one drawback of the diamond is that you need full backs who can offer you something going forward. I'm not sure that we have those yet who would be able to deliver consistently.

It is a conundrum for Jose to solve but it's not a bad problem to have.

With regards Sanchez I think we'll only see the best of him next season onwards when he's had time to adjust to United's game and coming off the back of a nice, long summer break for the first time in ages. Having said that I still feel he has some big performances in him for us this season too. He's too good not to have them.

Pogba at his average would be a wiser selection than either lingard or herrera.

Although, I would rather see him alongside mata and matic than mctominay (at least at the mo).

put them between two wingers, sorted.

Looks brilliant on paper of course!

Pogbas best/ preferred position seems to be the one Yaya used to play in his pomp - AM behind the forward with De Jong and Barry behind him. Is he that good though or are there better options for that role... If it hasn’t come together this time next year I wouldn’t be surprised to see a “mutual” parting of ways.

--------------------------------------------

I don't think it is.

I think he's better when he has the play in front of him, when he's picking up the ball in deeper areas and advancing forward, rather than being stationed higher up the pitch in more of a number 10 position.

If yesterday is anything to go by though, I think we might at some point see Mourinho use Pogba in that role you've mentioned with two midfielders behind him just sitting, protecting the back four and recycling the ball.

I think Pogba's biggest issue is his lack of discipline off the ball. On the ball I don't think it's that much of a problem. Even though I'd like him to release it sooner at times.

Perhaps if he had a really vocal CB or DM behind he'd be better in this aspect.

The line up a couple of posts above isn't that far away from what I proposed and, if Pogba would be willing to get back into a 3 once we lose the ball, it could be an exciting option for us.

You wouldn’t say Yaya was a no 10 though either. But it was definitely an attacking midfield role, some called it box to box but I don’t think either of those two offer/ offered enough defensively to be truly called that - as has been mentioned It’s the work off the ball he often lacks, Yaya was the same, he was just that good he was going to play anyway.

Yaya looked a lazy sod at times and then the next minute he'd be striding forward and scoring a screamer!

Don't think Pogba is a lazy as that but he does lack discipline at times without the ball. Don't think he's a scorer like Yaya was either to be fair.

posted on 11/3/18

No they are different players and it was a bit of a lazy media analogy that he was going to “replace” Yaya when we were being linked with him. But there are similarities, ie I think you get the best out of both of them when the midfield behind is more assured and they can be pushed up. It’s not a true number 10 role as has been mentioned I think both of them thrive when the play was happening in front of them. Explains why you’ve been linked with Fred anyway, if there was any truth in that.

I remember at the start of the season people saying pogba would get more goals/assists than dele alli, alli hasn't actually been anywhere near as a good as last season and is still miles ahead of pogba in that regard.

Yeah, miles ahead

In the PL this season..

Delle Ali -
Played 28
Scored 6
Assisted 9

Paul Pogba
Played 18
Scored 3
Assisted 9

Literally miles ahead 😹

No one givesa feck about just the pl seeing as neither team only plays in it.

Pogba

26
3
9

Alli

39
10
13

Miles in between the pair, as I said.

Alli played 13 more games and is in a more attacking side

Alli is a better player.

Its as simple as that.

Not allis fault that pogba gets himself dropped because he's actually performing so badly.

Over the last two seasons its not close.

And as for more attacking side, spurs league wise have scored one more than us.

In all comps I doubt its more than a five goal gap, so yet again, a stupid point.

Pogba is quite clearly the better player and will likely show it in the World Cup. Classic Stretty underrating his own teams players
