I won't wade into spoilers but I don't think it was that messy, it was surprisingly disciplined in its structure and handled its big cast well.

Yeah agree. Still trying to work out the scene that String found messy lol

All I've said is that I didn't like what I've seen from the trailers etc which is what plenty of others feel as well. Just giving my opinion on a comic book thread is now a massive boycott attempt

Congrats for liking the movie. Plenty have liked it and plenty haven't cared for it much at all from what I've seen so far. It's very much divided opinions as Stringer has alluded to already.

Doesn't seem very divisive so far. Strong review and audience scores, much more so that Snyder's movies.

I've seen plenty of critic reviews that have panned the movie. And you're clearly using RT as a gauge despite it being notoriously unreliable, not to mention Warner having a financial stake in it lol.

Captain America Brave New World still stands at 77% audience score on RT and I think most here hated the movie and thought it was pretty crap.

Did they? I think the consensus was 6/10 , just ok, meh and lacking rewatchability value.

Audience review score on RT is a relatively small sample but it requires proof ticket and can't be hijacked by bots anymore.

For critics it just do a rotten/fresh ratio - and again that's decent here.

On Brave New World, I think the odds are most people did it to some extent, even if I didn't. Certainly enough to still pick fresh over rotten.

Most people like Bohemian Rhapsody, a crime against cinema imo. People are much more agreeable to movies than we like to pretend. Normally it's just 'Did the movie meet my expectations?' and typically the more a movie does, the higher its score with audiences.

Which is why movies that are a bit subversive or arty have lower general audience scores as they put people off for not fulfilling expectations even if cineastes might love them.

Personally, I prefer to look at critic scores for that reason as my taste is closer normally to critics, and 82 is very robust.

Bohemian Rhapsody has been torn apart since tbf

People just love Queen and Freddie and will forgive the movie for its flaws on that alone

Some, power of the dog for example are just really, really boring and put people off just by watching a few mins, yet are loved by critics everywhere.

I wasn't looking to re-litigate movies — just think critics/industry and movie nerds typically prefer other movies to general audiences.

And normally it means that general audiences are much more forgiving of movies that are a bit predictable and formulaic — while nerds/critics typically will go for movies that are more subversive and risk taking that general audiences will find indulgent, confusing or boring.

Anyway - the TLDR is obviously Superman was going to get a strong audience score, and it's not that controversial. It offers everything people going in would have expected basically.

It's flawed, way too much of that damn dog for one thing - but so much of an improvement on the past 20 years of Superman movies .
