I do think if the Eternals comic stuff had been more popular they would have actually delved into it while Thanos was alive in universe

Yeah...I'm not sure what future The Eternals play in the MCU. Maybe when they introduce someone like Galactus but Thanos wiped out half of life of the entire universe and they did nothing.

My assumption is that they'll be a one-off for now. Maybe jump in every now and then when things go bad. Unless they scale their power wayyy down like they've done with Thor...and might possibly do with Captain Marvel.
