Forsyth was also involved in the opening goal. It was everything else he did that was rubbish.
Wilson wasted lots of breaks. Had he been more composed we would have won by more. I thought Lawrence was awful when he came on for Bryson but then he started to run at the Sheff Utd defence and they couldn't handle him.
Anyone else think Wilson's passing lacked something? Vision was there but rarely found his man........
Forsyth was a lot better 2nd half...as were all the side. We dominated the ball far more 2nd half and that stopped Sheff Utd in their tracks. I thought we were superb 2nd half. We changed the game right round tactically. Lawrence had a very bright 2nd half I thought. But Fozzys delivery...
Baz, without wanting to be a pedant, Marriott scored the winner with a delightful flick off his leg, it wasn't anywhere near his head. If I could see it on my mobile phone in NZ, you have no excuse
I wanted to pps - I know it wasn’t his head, sorry - I was so incensed by that useless w4nksplat’s performance!!
Given that we have, collectively, beaten the, or one of the, best teams in the Championship - do you not think this perhaps just a bit harsh?............
No . He literally defies belief how someone on £20+k a week can steal a living - unable to do his job or perform the most basic of tasks on such a regular and consistent basis. 🤜💦
I very much doubt Forsyth is on 20k a week but he will still be on a better wage than virtually everyone who paid to watch him.
If his delivery was that good consistently, along with his all round game, he would be in the premier league, but as it's only sporadic, he's at his level in the championship. He's not THAT bad, surely? I know I only have highlights and the occasional live game to go on, but he keeps getting picked by various managers so they all obviously see something in him, and as for his assist today, you're selling it short saying he was under pressure when, from what I saw, he had a player quite tight on him and another closing in fast, so to thread a ball of that accuracy between 2 players, just far enough ahead of the guy Marriott evaded to then land it perfectly on his leg is no mean feat.
*that should have been selling it short saying he was under no pressure
Harps...the ball in by Forsyth to Marriott was absolute class mate. Forsyth's ball into Waghorn 1st half was very good too. Im afraid when you don't like a player u don't like a player. I stand with Baz and his dislike of Forsyth is consistent so that is obviously his opinion. I don't think hes as bad as some make out and im really pleased he set the winner up today. Even Baz was pleased....a bit.
're Forsyth ... 1 superb cross does not a footballer make.
I had a hole in one 20 years ago and I'm certainly no golfer even though I was aiming for the hole.
He's average at best. Not "out of his depth" as such until he comes up against a better quality player.
But he's got no better in all the time he's been with us.
And, let's be honest, he has a gangly sort of run that lacks energy and makes him look a bit too laid back.
Nothing any of you can do about it, and something I will have to deal with myself, but thought you should know.
I have Bramblings.
Morning all.
I think there is a strong likelihood that Lamps will go for a back three against West Brom, with Bogle and Malone as wing backs and Forsyth will be consigned to the bench, which will delight Baz et al. However, it seems liike our management who see these players on a daily basis, rate Fozzy as a more effective defensive option than Malone.
Backo is spot on with his assessment. Many of of our players were 'off it' in the first half. Bogle frustrated me by giving the ball away numerous times and Wilson's delivery was poor, but they don't get the same treatment as Forsyth, which is out of all proportion.
We certainly upped our game in the second half and put on a good team performance, with Forsyth providing the game-changing moment in a great win.
Keogh had a good game yesterday. Otherwise, I suspect we might be discussing him, by courtesy of a certain well-known poster .
I think there's an ointment for that Heb.
Re Forsyth: fans are comical with their entrenched positions. Do they think therefore that Lampard is an idiot for preferring him to Malone? Or might there be qualities that elude them but that Lampard recognises, along with previous managers? He did quite a few bad passes yesterday but I thought he did well second half. He is very rarely exposed defensively. Since the start of the season he's been generally in good form so I am not surprised that the manager continues to pick him, though I expect eventually Malone will get that position. Their left back Stevens impressed me btw.
I agree re Bogle Ang. At some point he might need a rest from the team. Maybe Tomori might move across there as Wisdom seems persona non grata. Bogle has a fantastic future but kids often have a dip and need a spell out before kicking on again.
Vidal, to redeem himself, Bogle produced a defence-splitting pass for Lawrence in the second half
I do try and see the positives
Indeed he did Ang, and he's been terrific for his age and experience. He was curiously tentative first half, seemed scared to pass or run forward. Maybe he was under instructions not to over-commit.
I was going to mention on Ramdini's "For those" thread - which is excellent by the way, and I do recommend a visit....that something remarkable was unfolding on the Match thread.
Yes! Not a single negative comment about our esteemed Captain.
Mind you, 666 will be on his long Sunday run and I assume that Scouse won't be released until Monday morning......
