Hodgson > Kenny?

Intelligent post here, Roy was probably better.

posted on 19/9/11

I wonder how the fans would have reacted if Roy was in charge on Sunday

posted on 19/9/11

Through riots.

Also add to the original post that technically Liverpool have a better squad now.

i started doubting roy around december. when we lost to wolves at home, that was the straw that broke the camels back.
we'r trying to build a team for the future. hold tight and we'll be back
(also, can i just say this is actually a very decent post. most people would put £100 equal +2 points )
its nice to see a few good ones

Then how come you are only two points ahead of that team?

posted on 19/9/11

But I thought Kenny drastically reduced the quality of the squad, therefore the 2 point improvement indicates that we have on our hands the greatest manager since Busby himself.

Roys problem was that he kissed Fergies backside even wen he publically called Torres a cheater and when we were struggling he say "we are in a relegation battle" and these are the kind of things we don't wanna hear from a LFC manager. Granted he was not given any budget or time but he lost the fans early and he played very negative and boring football. U can't compare the two cos as u can see with the way the season ended what KK did with Roys squad.

Roy Hodgson signed the likes of Konchesky, Poulsen and Cole and had us languishing in the bottom three. He criticised his players in public and invited teams to bid for Torres and Reina. He had no concept how to relate to the Liverpool fans and no winning mentality.

OP

I would wait until the season is through before you write articles like this.

Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day. But It Wouldn't Have Been Built At All If Kenny Had The Blueprints (U10823):

"carroll>ngog"

Would that be the same Ngog that you were claiming Ngog>Anyone right up until the moment you sold him when KK had to get to grips with cleaning out some of the dross?
Ironically, you may have got the Ngog>x equation right for about the first time had you said Ngog>Carroll!

n.b. What was it, £35m? Oh dear... never mind, everyone buys a duff one now and then... still, it's gotta hurt, what with Henderson having been pretty rubbish and Adams dubious at best,hm? That cheaty divey Suarez fella up front looks very good when he sticks to playing the game though.

And not being Uruguay's best hope in the diving competition in London next year

At the moment the stats are this -

Kenny Roy
played 29 31
won 14 13
drawn 6 9
lost 9 9

Kenny has spent £110m to acheive these stats.

I agree about Hodgson buying some dodgy players though in Poulson and Konchesky, but that is surely down tot he financial constraints of the end of the Hicks and Gillett era. Also it should be said he brought in Mereiles who is quite a decent player.

I wonder who Hodgson would have bought had he been allowed £110m rather than scraping for bargain basement purchases. Who is to say that he would not have got better results than Kenny in that time (we will never know).

One thing he could never do though was reengage the fans in the same way as a Kop idol - to that end i think Kenny was a shrewd move by the new owners.

Is the OP the devil's advocate?

posted on 19/9/11

Z

Hodgson wasn't judged on 5 matches he was judged on half a season,in that time he managed to lose 90%of the fans and 90% of the dressing room,he talked down the club the squad and even the supporters,he refused to back his own players even when it was blatantly obvious they were in the right,Hodgson was never up to the job,Kenny has done it before and will do it again, thats why we trust him.

With the same backing as Kenny (fans and financial) I am sure Hodgson would have done a much better job, he may have actually helped sort out your defence (which has always been a weakness) and if he could have made more shrewd purchases like Raul they would have been quite good...

I am 90% sure Hodgson would not have wasted money so horrificly as Kenny has...

FACTS (the enemy of mouseburger)

Roy's form had us on track for a relegation battle over a whole season

Kenny's form had us on track for a CL spot

posted on 19/9/11

Roy, the worst Liverpool manager since the 1950s. Another inconvenient fact.

posted on 19/9/11

I see Roy 'sorted out' WBAs defence at the weekend

posted on 19/9/11

Admittedly he didn't have millions to spend on the defence.... don't think he had much left over after buying a striker so we could compare these signings..

How does £35 M Carroll compare with £8 M Shane Long ?

posted on 19/9/11

Shane Long's a decent striker. I rate him. Carroll? Did he cost £35m?

posted on 19/9/11

Yes, he did, crazy isn't it... just have to put it down as another one of those Krazy Kenny moments...

To get back on topic I think everyone is happier with it this way around, Pool supporters prefer the guy and no-one is happier with him than Newcastle, Tottenham, Arsenal, Sunderland... okay this list is getting a bit long... lets just say almost all opposition fans are very happy with the job Kenny is doing so far...

FACTS (the enemy of mouseburger)

--------------------

erm, i have just given you the facts, not sure how you can say they are my enemy. Those are the stats, they are not debateable. If you think they are wrong, feel free to correct them - i took them from Wikipedia (because i am lazy and didnt want to do the maths myself).

There are several possible outcomes.

All will be revealed in the fullness of time but I've got faith in the manager and the club is moving in the right direction. It started off the pitch with the owners.

With players you make good and bad calls, it's just important to have a higher proportion good ones.

For example - it's a shame we didn't make a move for Modric before he signed for Spurs. You could see how technically gifted he was. Critics suggested he would be too lightweight - I thought otherwise.

The same applies to Silva who we were linked with when Rafa was still in charge.

Yes but Kenny had the fans backing, an eager new Suarez rather than sulky old torres (another useless lump as well but I don't think he helped anyway) the backing of the owners to spend big money...

Basically most of the advantages Kenny has had were not given to Roy... and Roy even without those favourable conditions would have had it in the neck for the kind of start Kenny has made to the campaign
