Ozil

Struck me he just felt he wasn't needed, and gave him a rest for the games you mentioned.

Think it's just that particular system with three at the back. End of the day both fullbacks set up the goals.

If he keeps winning games (or not losing) then Ozil can't have any complaints really.

Don't see how Ozil fits in a 3-4-3. Can't just shove the player in a system he's not suited to.

Just winding him up for the Nld,hope it works.

A rest? He was not involved at all in the international break. How would it make sense to rest him?
Yes, he felt he didn't need Ozil. Which is the point I was making: that someone considered a key player is now considered dispensable.

No reason he shouldn't be able to play Mkhi's role yesterday.

We dodged a bullet in opting for Sanchez over Ozil, the German just doesn't have it anymore.

Well it's either two things. Either Ozil is on a strop and Emery is letting him know who's boss or indeed it was a tactical decision. Either way, he wasn't needed, and if he doesn't up his game on the weekend (i expect him to play) then we should be looking to move him on. We can't have passengers in the squad.

Also i think the only European club dumb enough to hand us a transfer fee and pay his wages are PSG. But not until they get rid of Neymar to settle FFP

I'd much rather have kept Sanchez at Arsenal over Ozil, but it's not as if Alexis has been tearing it up for you.

That's more what I expected, Serial

Sheriff, not at all. That being said he was starting to look at least like half a player, playing up front. Only for him to be dropped.

posted on 26/11/18

The trouble for ex-Ozil fanboys like me is that for years we argued that Ozil needed the right man up front to get the best out of him, when Giroud played up top.

Ozil has had Lacazette for a year and a half and Aubameyang for almost a year and probably looks worse than ever.

Gazidis & Co have made a right mess of contracts, and it'll cost us to sort it out.

On a serious note, it is a shambles. United can (and regularly have) made that kind of financial mistake and leave unscathed. Arsenal can't. We're now lumbered with a player unable to adapt to the new regime on mega a contract that we can't get rid.

posted on 26/11/18

We'll probably end up coming in for him in Jan, doubling his wages.

posted on 26/11/18

Wouldn't stress if Arsenal want rid, Ozil could easy get them wages in the U.S or China.

Still be easy to punt him.

Either Emery is giving him a kick up the backside before Spurs or already plans to drop him so was testing out a new formation. But if Bournemouth is too physical for him then Spurs will be too.

It's all media bollox

Ozil is key for us but there's something unexplained about the number of games he misses. Media just doing their usual thing and causing trouble while filling in the gaps

Emery made verifiable quotes. How is it "media bollox"? If the media didn't question why Arsenal's highest profile player and highest earner was getting benched, they wouldn't be doing their jobs.

He's not key for us anymore, Emery has dropped him and hauled him off and called him out in public more than once.
