Not a lot between the sides

I was surprised as i expected a lot more from them, they’ve got a good team but on today’s evidence they themselves are nowhere near the elite bracket.

Liverpool are a good side but when their front three fail they have nothing to fall back upon in midfield. They really needed someone like Coutinho in their midfield three to bring a spark when needed. The lack of creativity in there is scary.

a bit bizarre that the countinho transfer seems to have been a lose/lose for both parties.

They work bleeding hard but football wise they are some way behind likes of Barca, PSG n City.

Their midfield has 6 goals all season apparently collectively. Pogba has nearly double that on his own.

Mm, not sure Eric. Their team this year I agree, the first three months though I think they were better than we are now. I don't think our team is good enough to be level with City.

They're a good side tbf... But they do seem to enjoy a dip in form after new year under klopp... Whether that's down to the tempo they play at maybe?

Although they're challenging this year, i actually thought they were better to watch last season

As for us... I don't think we're far off being a very good side but the current injuries show we're weak squad wise... Not helped by sanchez looking done and lukaku being work shy (not today tho in fairness)

Midfielder, wide player, back up for Rashford and a cb and we'll be in good shape

Liverpool’s weakness is that midfield, it’s just full of cloggers who’s main role is to get the ball to that front three ASAP. It’s a good tactic and works well as a unit, but today it got shown up. It’s very bland and lacks creativity.

I thought they were much the better team in the first half today, but second half was more even and we did indeed have the better chances.

Probably a fair result in the end and one that we can certainly take heart from given the injury situation.

Felt the same about you to be honest. You played like you were the away team.

In the first half we certainly did look like the away team. But we've had a few successes in games (mainly away games) where we've had nowhere near as much of the ball as the opposition, so maybe this was part of our game plan. I don't know. What I do know is that for all their possession, Liverpool didn't really threaten.

Had Smalling gotten his head to that ball from Lukaku in injury time today and we’d have won I doubt even the most ardent Liverpool fan would have felt robbed

The reason Liverpool are dropping points suddenly is because they lost to City imo. They played really well that day, and if they'd kept anything close to that performance going, they'd be well clear at the top.

They lost that match, and City followed that up by losing to Newcastle. That should have been the moment they thought it was theirs. But they didn't. The fact they lost that match seems to have affected them far more than people realise. They've looked filled with doubt and erred on the side of caution on a regular basis. And the games they've dropped points in since then have been deserved dropped points. Because they haven't done enough or shown enough to win

Jal, they were equally dross in the first half. In fact we had the closest chance to score if Lingard could’ve just chipped their keeper. They never play well at Old Trafford, we always have their number.

I think Robertson vvd and salah are world class. Keeper is good aswel but I prefer ederson haha. I think the rest are work horses and fabinho is quality at what he does. Mane good aswel but not sterling sane level for me

Would've been interesting to see our first 11 today. Not only would we have posed more of a threat but it also might have suited them a bit as we would've opened up more.

I would say they are definitely better than us, but the gap under Ole isn't enormous - certainly not 14 points or whatever it is. Something that can be bridged with a good transfer window.

I do think they probably have better replacements for their first 11 when they need to use their squad, although that's a result of Klopp having had transfer windows to sort that out. We dont really have any replacements for our first choice midfield 3 whereas they can lose a couple of theirs and it doesn't really effect them.

We did really, really well today though no matter what they say. To put it in perspective, it's about the equivalent of them losing Fabinho, Henderson, Mane, Salah, Shaquiri and playing on with an injured Firmino. I would be disappointed if our first 11 didn't beat them in that scenario, even at Anfield.

We lost Martial, Jesse and Matic in the build up to the game and then lost Mata n Herrera too during the game and obviously the rushed back Lingard and this dipper has the cheek to say we played like the away team.

We had more shots and the best chances. They don't like home truths it seems. A patched up Utd team handled them with ease.

They don’t look anything special at all. We would have beaten them wth a full strength side.
Ole made a big mistake in bringing on Lingard imo and I thought our right hand side were pure trash. Lukaku put some decent balls in but his overall play was shocking and the less said about Young the better. That whole right hand side needs revamping in the summer imo

Yeah I think there's quite a bit of different between the two teams, hence the 14 point gap and one being top of the league and the other fifth. However it's always difficult when one team parks the bus against the better team, hence why they do it. It sometimes pays off, like today.

If there really wasn't much difference between the two teams(there is), one of them wouldn't have parked the bus.

We are that far behind because of one man and that is Jose
Very little between the sides today and we got decimated with injuries and was playing with an injured player for nearly the whole game. We certainly didn’t park the bus and if anything had the better chances.

OK then we are that far ahead because of one man, Klopp. Cheers.

TOOR is so wound up ain't he literally posting the same comment on every article about how crap Liverpool were

we were the better team despite the enforced changes. Yes they had a lot of possession but they did feck all with it in the final third. One shot on target and I cant even remember it.
Shaw Linderlof McT and Pereira were solid. Rashy was kicked to fook from start to finish.

On the down side Lukaku tried to move a bit more than he has done today but really isn't good enough for United. His first touch is a back pass.

True, for all their meaningless possession and expended energy, they really created nothing of note, I honestly can't recall a moment where De Gea had to use his hands
Their lead at the top has slowly eroded and based on that performance and the non showing of any of their strikers I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish the season 3rd
