Wow I’ve missed a bit here due to work.

Anyways, I see lots of protective talk from Liverpool fans stating that the Super is a trophy

Yes, that was already well known and never discounted or denied.

The only thing that has ever been discounted is that it is a meaningful game.

You can argue all you like about teams going out to win it.

But it has never been on any of the big clubs target lists for the season. Only a bonus trophy.

The CL is the biggest competive trophy in European club football. And that is what a lot of clubs want.

No one cares much for the Supercup. Just get over it.

Mate what you talking about Big Clubs here? We're literally the biggest club in Europe with Madrid, look at what we've won, game over chief.

You missed the facts

The community shield is not a competitive trophy

The Super Cup is a competitive trophy

Competitive trophies count as stats unlike the Community Shield

This means Liverpool > Utd

You can argue all you want but this is official. Just because you are crying your eyes out it doesn't mean the FACT is going to change. Deal with it

A utd fan pointing out that the CL is the biggest competitive trophy, Yes we know that we have won it twice as many times as Utd.

We are the current owners of that trophy

6 times baby

Silly tîīt for tat crap. You won the real deal back in May. You are a credible club in terms of modern football again.
This team you've got and manager are top notch and have a major trophy to show for it, earned by playing some excellent football consistently.
So why the need to gloat and blow hard? Any other season you'd also have won the league and you've had all the adulation and kudos given to you for that excellent season. So why become unbearable? Why revert to type?
The truth is you haven't won the single most important trophy in English football yet in its modern form. That's the one you need to be able to give you that warm fuzzy feeling. Perhaps that's why you're feeling empty and feel the need to over emphasize your recent achievements.
League titles are the bedrock of your remarkable domination of the English game during the 70s/80s but also the prerequisite of your European Cup successes too. In those days the european champions were truly the champions of Europe. These days unless the domestic champions go on to win the CL, there's always that hollow feeling that they are more of a cup team than true Champions of Europe and can be never claim to be. Such as this Liverpool side.

I think you'll find it's a manifestation of other people's actions and a parody of their perception.

I don't have any hollow feeling whatsoever though and tbh your entire post is opinion based conjecture.

Maybe doesn't apply to you, but certainly rings true of a few of your fellow Liverpool posters.

We are happy to celebrate. It is the bitter mancs on here that are the ones trying to say that it is not a competitive trophy. We are just pointing out the facts and letting them know that they are wrong,

We were told all last season we would be unbearable if we won so we are doing what everyone asked us to do and that is be unbearable. I have seen us win many leagues in my time. I don't care what they are called or sponsored by. I have seen us win more European cups than the rest of the premier league teams put together.

We will celebrate all competitive trophies otherwise there would be no point in taking part.

Ahhh I could say that about lots of sets of fans really.

Remember when Arsenal were good? The beIlends were everywhere. Utd fans, there are not enough fingers to count the smug entitled muggy southern snafs but reality is slowly settling in.

There is absolutely a prejudice towards Liverpool fans that quite frankly is undeserved so some have chosen to live up to it. Cause and consequence innit.

I think you’re missing the fact here. I know it’s a competition, a cup, a trophy. Whatever you want to call it.

But it’s an pointless competition. Not all competitions make sense. And this one is one of them.

As with the Community Shield, I have never brought that into the equation as that too is worthless. So I don’t know why you brought that up.

Although I should also point out that Community Shields/ Charity Shields have also counted as trophies on some stats.

But again, even though we’ve been successful in that I still never count it as meaningful achievement.

You post this in the United board as well, knowing full well you’d get responses of some sort.

But because it doesn’t fit your narrative that the pointless Super Cup is a proud achievement then you start going on the offensive with the ‘6 times’.

Not once has anyone mocked or downplayed your great achievement in winning your 6th European Cup/CL. It was great achievement.

We could play the same games by bringing up that real Europeans Club Champions have a domestic title to brag about as well, whether that is in the same season or near to the time frame of winning it. But I don’t want to stoop that low and p!55 on your parade.

Like I said, congratulations on your 6th CL title.

“The only thing that has ever been discounted is that it is a meaningful game.”

Who decides what is/isn’t a meaningful game?

I’m sure the players and managers of both team went into the game last night with the attitude of don’t worry if we lose, it’s not meaningful.

That is the difference between the dips on here and United fans. We don't feel the need to bolster up our trophy haul with excibition match wins.

This is why Liverpool fans will always be viewed as inferior.

Well you tell me which teams, players or fans have been left distraught or haunted by the fact that they lost the Super Cup?

If you win it, then great. But if not, then you just shrug you shoulders and move on.

The CL final however...

Feeding off every sort of scrap to gain a bigger sense of pride when the last glorified friendly was just that.

The buck stopped at winning the CL - whether 1st one or 6th. That was the real achievement.

Really beggars belief why a set of fans would feel the need to brag about a pointless competition.

I think Klopp's a nice guy, I really do, but he'll always be Jurgen Flopp for me. It was those comic excuses - the wind - the rain - the ball - the whatever....He's one of the funniest gaffers to watch though - he's to managers to what Phil Jones is to players.

1) You’ll find no United fan acknowledged that ‘treble’.

It was Mourinho and his ego pride that proudly stated that.

2) Lets play the same game : Mickey Mouse Treble cough.

He does spout some rubbish but you can’t doubt he’s probably second only to Pep right now as far as managers go.
