Were you cross when you crossed at the cross? Heading into the Judges, I trust?

40 years ago standing in Albion Street late one night with mates I saw a drunk staggering about 150 yards away. Thought nothing of it but looked back a few seconds later and he was nowhere to be seen. Knew from his state there was no way he had gone anywhere far. Saw some roadworks like you describe and dragged my mates out our way to check. Sure enough two immobile legs vertical out the hole. Clambered down and dragged him out. He was complaining but otherwise insisted he was unhurt. Fook knows if I hadn't clocked him. Probably woke up with a good set of mystery injuries.

Man after my own heart, sir. Like a decent / interesting pint. I add the interesting bit because imho the Judges don't look after them so well.

Of course you could have been heading to the Lismore too.

It was 'Friday Tennents' for near 40 years Tully.

Some of the aulder-than-me comrades got a few mobility issues now.

They're southsiders so we meet in the Imperial now St Enoch.

Despite the name it's full o republican socialists.

Silver just noticed your road works incident.

Understandable as H & S hadn't been invented yet.

In these litigious times a Primary 1 wean could remove the cones.
