And still the only PL team to get knocked out of a cup competition at home to Olympiakos this season

Phew. So we still hold the Invincibles Trophy thank god

Its a feat that the rest of the premier league don't have, maybe never have.

Can understand jealousy from opposing fans tbh.

You can thank super Nigel Pearson.

Your always going to get some in the media who have their own agendas that will belittle great achievements just to get a reaction out of people. Everyone has been waxing lyrical about Liverpool I suppose with some justification as they have been the best team this season. In reality though as good as they are they haven't really got close to the invicibles they were and still in a league of their own.

It shows how impressive that achievement is when a team as dominating as Liverpool this season can't do it.

Well I’d take Invincibles over 100 points or whatever max record any day. It’s a feat that probably will never be repeated.

Spot on 50. Being consistent day-in, day-out even when players are tired or distracted is an achievement unmatched in Sports. Some in the media try to play it down but its a record that literally can't be beaten!

Would you take a treble (league, champs league, Fa cup) over having an unbeaten season though?

Arsenal invincibles team are overated. Completely outplayed by Man Utd in every meeting that season. Got lucky draws. Won only 26 league games.

posted on 29/2/20

Arsenal averaged only 12.39 shots per game that invincible season. Man City 17/18 averaged 17.47 shots per game. Man City 18/19 season averaged 17.97 shots per game. Man City this season are averaging 19.78 shots per game.

A couple of quick questions, who won the league that season? And was Arsenal beaten that season? I’ll wait.

My point is Arsenal invincible side barely created much.

Also yes they were unbeaten but If RVN scores penalty or many other moments like a dive that saved unbeaten run was not given as a pen Arsenal wouldn’t have been unbeaten. That Arsenal team wasn’t good, got battered by Man Utd in both league meetings I believe and smashed in fa cup and beaten by Chelsea in CL.

The jealousy of other fans! In the past 131 years or so,NO team has gone unbeaten for a season, except Arsenal. Not even the Arsenal side of the 1930's! Not the Liverpool of the 70's, or the Man U of the 90's. NONE of those teams were good enough to go unbeaten. Any arguing about silly details or points or goals are irrelevant and miss the whole point of football.
The sheer willpower to go where no team had gone before, especially AFTER winning the title,to keep it going right to the end took nerves of steel and a team spirit no other English team has ever had. THAT is why our Golden trophy is worth more than any treble, points haul or anything else. You can argue all you want, but it beats anything your team ever did,or will do! Because even if/when another team does finaly do it,they will be the second team, they will have looked at us for guidance. As I have said eleswhere, who remembers who was the second man to run a sub four minute mile? Who came after the Wright brothers in flying? See? Arsenal, the pioneers, the original, the best. For. Ever.

Absolute load of waffle, while an unbeaten season (in the league) was a fantastic achievement you are lying if you will take that over a treble. The Utd team of 07-09 went almost 2 full seasons unbeaten in the champs league only losing to one of the greatest club sides of all time in their second consecutive final. Could probably argue that little stat is more impressive than Arsenals

Not really, at the end of the day the champions league is a cup competition and while its impressive a league achievement will always trump that as its over a longer period. I'd obviously like to win stuff and a treble would of been good and it's something United fans can cherish forever as it wont happen again just like going unbeaten a whole season probably wont happen again and that is something that will be tied to Arsenal forever.

If going unbeaten was so unimportant why do opposing fans keep on trying to play it down?

The truth is most ppl recognise it for being the hardest thing to do in football. Thats why Klopp feels 'unburdened'.

If you win the league it’s a nice bonus but I would always take an extra trophy over going unbeaten. And you also have to look at the context of your unbeaten season compared to Pools attempt this year. Liverpool are 22pts clear already so the pressure is off for them as opposed to yours when you had teams that could still catch you so couldn’t let up.

Surely a team should play better if there is 'no pressure'!
