Why don’t we just make it that the team who pays the most wins?

That’s what it’s really about these days anyway.

Tbh I doubt this season will finish at all if we get anything close to the Italian rate of infection.

Probably best to scrap this season and start again in September fresh. And I genuinely don’t say that I wum Liverpool fans. We all suffer to some degree.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we are able to start in September we could definitely finish this season in September
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What about pre season training though?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about it? Everyone is in the same boat.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not really an answer. Unless you suggest that the new season starts the week after the old one finishes

Not really considering City pay more than Liverpool and Liverpool will win.

Also it was only a couple of seasons ago United had the most expensive team ever assembled and didn't win.

Obviously there is some correlation but it's not a definite.

I think the very least we should hope for is a deadline that this season should be played by. I’m not gonna suggest a date because I’m sure whatever date I choose will offend some Liverpool fans but if the PL sets a deadline and it’s reached then it should be considered a fair amount of time to get the season done and no one can really complain

Everton have already got a strategy in place to crash out of domestic cups early next season.

No deadline needed. It's been extended indefinitely. Next season will be decided accordingly but no decision can be made until they have an idea when this season will end.

Depends what other measures they take of course.

If ramifications of relegation top 4 and promotion are known before the end of the season, then the rest of the games can be used as "friendlies"

It’s close enough, plus it’s a works on many levels, chiefly because it’s what the pl is really about: greed.

If they cancel the cups next season, Evertons season will be over before it even starts!

Of course. But I very much doubt if no football has been played by say, August/September and players still have to do a proper pre season before coming back that the 20/21 season will start this year at all.

That's a possibility. But there is no deadline for this season. "Indefinitely".

They do need to say that. As it keeps it vague so they don’t upset anyone.

Just end the season in current positions.

Massed game of British Bulldog to decide champions.

It's the only logical way to bring a conclusion to the season.

If the season does get finished it probably won’t be until close to Christmas. If that is the case we should just start the following season some time in 2021 and have it end before the Qutar World Cup. It at least solves the issue of clubs losing all their players that qualify for the tournament.

Do whatever you want with next season, cancel half the games, play some teams at home, some away, cancel the FA Cup for Non-League Clubs, play League One & Two Clubs in the Europa League and Champions League Qualification can be allocated alphabetically; anything, as long as we maintain the integrity of the game.

Or...crazy idea...

We could just cancel this season...

Eh, so by your logic it makes sense to scrap a season that has been played for seven months in order to start a new one?!?!

Yeah that makes sense and oozes integrity

There is precedent for cancelling a season in Chile recently

Split all the leagues in half for a year.

Make the trophies 'lite' versions as they wouldn't have required 38 games.

E.g.

Premier League Upper
Premier League Lower
Championship Upper
Championship Lower

Relegation will obviously only happen from the lower portion and promotion from the upper.

The lower portion could also be challenging for a trophy as there will be a winner.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who goes into which?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Top 10 and bottom 10 from this season etc...

posted on 20/3/20

They cancelled and just awarded everything based on final positions I think

They could go back to straight knockout for the CL. Save all the round robin against teams who really have no business in the competition.

They certainly do have business in the competition but I do think this should happen.

Wouldn’t even bother with home and away legs. One game, luck of the draw.
