I went to my church's online service through Zoom this morning, it was great.

Same here brother, the tech works surprisingly well! Still not quite the same as the real thing though.

On the bright side you don’t have to go anywhere to be bored to death...

Download the Duolingo app and learn another language for free.

In six weeks of self-isolation, you could be able to hold a basic conversation with somebody.

I'm not talking about a dead, traditional CofE church, I'm talking about places that are full of life and love.

So do I.

It's something useful to do with your time. Plus the app does quite well at helping you actually remember words and phrases.

Yes it's not quite the same, but we can all see each other and worship together. We even had communion this morning.

Ah I see what happened. You mistook a nightclub for a church.

I'm also doing this through Babbel. I hear a lot of good things about Duolingo too though. I was learning Spanish anyway, but finding a lot more time to do lessons at the moment.

Be careful mate. Don’t want to turn this article into an argument over religion.

Try and stay positive
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry, what problem has religion or praying ever solved?

None.

Don’t pray, do something useful instead.

That’s a great idea. Will you be using it to learn Portuguese?

Yes, or pray for friends, family or anyone affected by it.

I’m bored, not mentally ill.

But thanks for reminding me that religion is an even worse disease than this bloody virus.

If someone can feel better after saying a few prayers what is the harm?
Not overly religious myself but you know live and let live and all that
However people are coping should not be under scrutiny or criticised providing they are within the boundaries of the law

I've signed up as an NHS volunteer, plus will be volunteering through our community centre. So it's not fair to say I pray but do nothing practical to help.

That’s fair, and people who use religión like the guys in this thread are fine, it’s when it’s hijscked (and always is) to be a platform of hate..

Agree baz don’t want to turn this into a religion thread anyway. More than enough of them over the years on here
Hope all is well with yours

I'm not remotely religious. But any time I see posts saying to people not to pray etc, I just don't get it. Just because it's not your belief, doesn't mean others can't have that faith and if it helps them get through a difficult situation, then that's a good thing imo. And just because people are praying, it doesn't mean they're not doing other things to help. It just seems unnecessary to criticise.

Well whoever is talking to their God maybe they should ask why he’s given us this deadly new virus. He must REALLY love us.

Like I said, I don't believe in God. But people do have faith and take strength from that in difficult times.

So you expect this world to be like heaven, with only good things happening?
