I’d love there to be a spontaneous street party or something, but I can’t see it all being fixed in one go. I can’t help but feel that the best case scenario is that this ends up as just another cold that goes around, and it’ll take us a long time to get there.

One things for sure after all this social distancing and respecting private space ppl will only revert back to being aholes

Looks like a lot of people are going to survive the virus, only to die of alcohol poisoning

I honestly don’t know what is going to happen, just wish we had some better leaders to get us through this.

I think this is going to be long year Sizz , 6 months or more of lockdown.

Businesses won’t survive 6 months of lockdown and people won’t be able to last 6 months of this so I’m certain that within a couple of months most people will have had this and will get out there again. Eventually testing will be widespread and once you’ve had it you should in theory be immune. People who are immune - and that should be a lot of people won’t and shouldn’t be expected to stay in for 6 months as it’s just not a sensible plan for morale and the economy etc

Covid-19 is something we're all going to have to live with, similar to the flu. There will be some sort of vacccine, again like the flu, but unfortunately many will die, again like the flu.

Happy Friday!

Who decide?

Just my opinion. I hope someone does come up with some magical cure, but I'm thinking not.
In which case, it may come and go

Immunity doesn't mean to cannot carry or spread the virus. The "herd immunity" theory is a load of rubbish.

Truth is, leaders care more about the economy than old or vulnerable folk. That means once health systems can cope, it'll be BAU for the majority.

This is far worse than the flu, its far more infectious and less stable. It isn't a human virus which means it's a matter of time before it mutates again and potential becomes more fatal.

People comparing it to a normal flu are naive and spreading a dangerous rhetoric.

It's a mutation of SARS, what's scary is this facker has been around since November and were no closer to finding a cure.

The mutation rate is suspected to be low. Why do you believe the mutation rate to be high?

Some questionable assertions in there.

- There are lots of infectious diseases you can catch repeatedly. The common cold, flu. It's a question of how quickly they mutate. Covid-19 hasn't been around long enough to be properly observed and studied, and there's a reasonable probability that this won't be something you get once and then you're all clear.

- Businesses won't survive six months. That depends entirely on what governments do. The impact of a total collapse of the economy is worse than the downsides of printing stupendous amounts of money to keep businesses on life support and employees in jobs. We're a socialist command economy temporarily, while we sit this out. There's lots of downsides to that system, but it's capable ensuring everyone gets the essentials and basically putting everything on hold until the private sector is able to start working again.

No one is comparing it to a normal flu

People are (rightly) saying that eventually it’ll be something we have to all deal with like a seasonal flu as it’s not going away anytime soon.

We can’t stay in lockdown forever so eventually it will become something (some) people get every year - like flu for example but that society won’t have to lockdown every time there’s a flare up as it’s just not realistic to do so

Of course it's worse, but the flu was a massive killer many years ago. IMHO this is something we will have to live with, just like we did with the flu

Do we know if you can only get this once and not again ?
The government say have an immunity certificate.
