It’s far too early to tell.

China was said to have handled things well. Went into full lockdown and looked to be back on the mend with days of no to very few cases.

Yesterday they reported 108 new cases.

Does this mean there could be a second wave?

There will be a huge inquest at the end of this where we’ll get a better idea on which countries handled this well

Careful mate, you will be called a Labour Leftie.

They will be brought hopefully to account when it is all over. They have made lots of mistakes, and as usual with everything they do, are just ploughing on and give out very little information.

They won’t be brought to account. They never are. They will appoint the review committee and they will blame everybody else and people will buy it.

Look at grenfell. Only person to lose their job was a firefighter.

Good post.

Sweden barely locked down, but have fewer deaths than the rest of Europe.

Keeping airports open in UK to flights from China, Italy, Spain, France,NY and Iran with no UK checks or tests on arrivals was an error, as was Cheltenham and euro football and a later lockdown, but who knows, as there will be second and third waves too.

Govt were slow, poorly prepared, compared to the best prepared in S Korea, but globally, this is new.

Public also went to pubs, parks and beaches, ski hols in Italy, breaks in Spain, football and concerts in numbers, even when told of the virus in Italy taking lives?

We are all culpable.

The lock down will create recession, then poverty, depression, domestic violence, abuse, suicide and death from poor living conditions.

There is no easy solution.

This is not left or right either.

Oh look another leftie spurs fan. Where do you breed this lot?

And how despicable using thousands of deaths to point score on politics

posted on 14/4/20

The entire western world were poorly prepared for this pandemic and have nearly all suffered the same problems this government has. Were Italy and Spain any better prepared than us? Look at the US - they are digging mass temporary graves in New York State.

So far the NHS capacity hasn’t been breached and infection rates look like they are slowing. When you compare that to people lying on hospital floors in Italy and old people left by care workers to literally die in their chairs in Spain, that’s pretty good. Of course no one talks about that.....

The only thing I don’t understand is that people were being told daily we weren’t yet at the peak a week or so ago but were still shocked when the numbers had stayed the same or gone up the next day.

Except that the UK had a 3 weeks warning and decided to go with the herd immunity approach first.
3 weeks head start it is not negligible and a lot could have been done.

People forget that you can say whatever you like about Italy and Spain but it’s the UK, yes blooming us, who recorded the highest daily death figures in Europe!

That’s not a sign of us doing well when we had the advantage of seeing Italy and Spain tackle this and should’ve learnt our lessons much better!

It’s not an easy task trying to contain this granted but let’s go and give ourselves pat on the back!

BoJo not working

Priti Awful
Doesn't say Alok Sharma.

Our Government

They were told about this in Jan and BoJo was bragging about shaking hands with Corona patients on Mar 03!! Look at the state of him now.

Also look into the amount of MP's who voted against pay rises for Nurses. All Tory of course including Nick HanCOCK.

I'm right wing and I won't criticise the government who are trying to beat this, although I ll concede they've done a pretty bad job of it. The word flat footed comes to mind. Too reactive instead of proactive.

This sounds a lot like the US after EVERY mass shooting. "It is not the time blah... blah... blah.." Let people mourn first.... until the next mass shooting. Rinse and Repeat.
It is never gonna be the right time but unfortunately, the public need answers.

For me it's not so much the death count, but the fact they had seen what happened to Italy then Spain first and didn't react. That's just negligent.

Wasn't it something like 10 days prior to lockdown they advised people not go to the pub? You're the facking government, if people should not be going to the pubs, shut them, don't flake, allow the virus to spread then close them once the horse has bolted.

Shambles.

Outside S Korea and Singapore locking down small countries and having experienced viruses before, the whole world was not prepared.....and the govt and UK pop reacted slowly too.

It hits the Bame community hardest according to UK and USA figures too, so that impacts where more deaths occur.

When covid gets into Africa and middle East and India, it will be horrific.

Blaming the Tories is fine and the default of Corbynista and the far left, so we expect thread a lime this, but Starmer of Labour is operating with support and yet holding govt to account too.

Just hating conservatives is a lifestyle choice for a few, and covid is their new stick.

Sad, but predictable.

And I called out govt and the public weeks back, btw.lol

Mr Cummings wanted lockdown a week at least before we did, but Boris and others said no...mistake imo.

It's a hard call locking 67 million down and watching folk suffer, and we are already seeing people crying, how long will this last after 3 weeks.

You can't win with the public, and Tories will never win with the far left, no matter what they do.

Which is politics, but I reckon no govt anywhere is ready for a new virus, are they?

But let give them a clap at 8pm. Meanwhile every MP was given a £10k allowance so they could WFH.
