A lot are going off on a tangent here. Ask yourself if your club were relegated when they had a fighting chance of staying up, would you be happy?

That's a terrible outcome. You cannot relegate a team who haven't played their allocation. What if their last few fixtures were much easier than the team above them, etc etc.

This wouldn't happen in England, in our non professional leagues they null and voided.

Imagine Bournemouth getting relegated on goal difference with 9 games left. Would never happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Want to bet?

So you do realise why the null and void option isn't on the table anywhere don't you?

Season ticket reimbursement. TV money being withheld. Sponsorship money being reclaimed. No European participation exclusion.

Happy for the clubs to pick up that tab when even some players refuse a wage cut at clubs?

And yet you still can't provide an answer as to what you will do if the remainder of the league can't be played out?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If the remainder of the league cannot be played out. It will be voided. Only two solutions. It either finishes or it gets voided.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Belgium and Scotland disagree
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Belgium is a different kettle of fish. The team at the top of their league could not be caught. Scotland though is totally out of order. And I suspect even though Thistle do not have the money for an appeal, the decision will be overturned.

Celtic fan in `wanting the season completed at all costs` shock, well of course he would being top of the league and having a Dalglish affinity with Pool also.

It is all about ensuring they receive their entitlement, they have something to lose. Common sense and what is best for public health and safety does not enter their consideration.

There is no fair way to complete this season and retain any integrity, you can not change the rules half way through a season, then promote and relegate teams based on a stop start season or a vote, it can never be fair.

You can also not go past the end of June with the current season and retain any legitimacy.

The fairest and safest solution is to cancel the whole season and start a new season when safe to do so.

Yep even if they had won their last game and second place lost, they would have had a mere nine point gap with 10 games to play.

Good luck with that and hope your teams manage to do without all those billions when they are currently screaming for help and cutting costs.

The Scottish and Belgian leagues can’t.

Your league will not be voided.

Sandy, I don’t agree with it, but it’s going to go 2 ways. Either the season ends, but Liverpool get crowned champions and the league standings stay as it is or the season resumes like planned in June/July. If it’s behind closed doors, then so be it. The season will not be void with no finish trust me. If it’s void, then champions and relegation etc will be sorted.

If I was a multi millionaire prem footballer I would want 100% assurance from the govt and league that I would not contract the virus even behind closed doors.

There in lies the problem. The players hold the power to resuming the league. It's very well the clubs meeting but they need to backed by the players.

Delete the season!

You're failing to see outside your scope of preference. Players won't do this IMO but let's assume it happened.

If a player refuses to train/play on the grounds you stated, you need to also ask yourself what would be the impact of that? What does it mean for their contract with the club they refuse to represent? What would it entitle the club to do?

You think the clubs will just say, "OK" and go home? If you can't play because of covid, a reason not within the control of the club then you're provably FIRED. Surely you won't be expecting to keep receiving your wages like its business as usual?

If you can't play for fear of covid then the club cant pay wages because of covid too, because they need you playing in order to make money in order to pay you millions every year so any such player can say goodbye to next weeks wages, and this weeks if it hasn't been paid too.

If both parties can't perform contractual obligations then the contract is frustrated and void and everyone can go their separate ways.

One way of getting a wage cut at Arsenal I suppose.
