I love stuff like this.
Every JA racism expert, finance expert, EU purchasing etc are now experts in hindsight.
German, not enough PPE but are part of the EU joint purchasing scheme?
The 50,000 ventilators we rejected, were are they all being kept?
How we are two weeks behing say....German. Were slow to implement restrictions over others, yet France has a similar number of deaths andhas a comparible population - however less dense population areas in comparison to the UK.
All in all, this was a Tory government plot to prevent Liverpool winning the title.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah it's funny seeing experts on here spout nonsense isn't it

Dunno, haven't seen one yet., hope they can answer the three points I made?

Of course countries can stock up on PPE, and put measures (social distancing etc) in place to mitigate but no country could ever be 100% prepared for a global pandemic.

Because it's racist to deny those poor, impoverished people to come to the UK to take resources from those who are citizens and are entitled to them

How do the poor impoverished people manage take resources away from Citizens? Get up off your ass and find a job and stop blaming people who work hard for your sheety life.
UK didn't close the airports quick enough, nor did it enter lockdown quick enough. Its as if the government are afraid of upsetting the British people.
We allowed mass free movement to the UK all this time, and this is a consequence of it.

But hey, Matts got a target to meet, so from today, if your a nurse or a delivery driver, or a postman, or if you know a nurse, a delivery driver, or a postman, or have met someone who knows a nurse, a delivery driver or a postman, you get a test.

Can you get the ball rolling with anything PPE related? Did we genuinely not pursue equipment unlike other countries for example?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Watch the Panorma documentary that aired on Monday night. This government did not have 1 single gown in stock available to provide for the front liners when the pandemic broke. They also counted one piece of glove as an item of PPE to inflate the figures.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What, the totally unbiased Panorama programme showing and promoting the views of medical staff, all chosen at random, I’m sure, from a broad spectrum of the medical profession, none of whom have held any political views of any kind, perish the thought, all very supportive of a government, like governments the world over, were caught out with the speed the disease caught?

Exactly, Germany prepared much better than the UK, yet still have PPE shortages.
Which is probably one of the reason why the UK government falsified its PPE figures.

I hate comments like this. This kind of attitude is what's turned the UK into the state that has actively embraced self-harm in the form or successive Tory governments and Brexit.
Instead of turning on people that choose to educate themselves about politics and current events, and seeking to belittle them, you actually learn for yourself?
The world is an inherently better place for 'experts'. From creating cures for deadly viruses, to exploring the universe, life is worth living thanks to people that know more than you or I. Embrace the chance to learn from those around you. If not, what's the point of reading threads like this on forums like these?
Granted, the ja606 demographic does not usually lend itself to high brow debates, but there are definitely some very clever people on here that stay pretty quiet. If you actually want to learn shut up and read - it'll only get worse if people that are knowledgeable are discouraged from commenting. If you disagree with what's being said inform yourself and justify your opinion - we're all here for a discussion.
On topic - watching the situation in the UK unfold from afar my main take away from the government's response is how bad communication has been. Confused messages, often delivered too late, or by a random scientist or minister. They may have had a solid plan but it was so poorly communicated it all looked a shambles.
scuse typos - too lazy to proof read

You'd have to prove that the government 'caused this virus to exist' in the first place. Then you'd have to prove that they deliberately covered it up. Then you'd have to find a court that would take the case. I don't think a strongly worded statement from Boris would have the required impact tbh.

Here's a list of the top 9 PPE manufacturers from 2016 to 2020.
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20160905005103/en/Top-9-Vendors-Personal-Protective-Equipment-Market
And here's a list of Chinese PPE manufacturers:
https://www.environmental-expert.com/health-safety/personal-protective-equipment/companies/location-china
I may be mistaken but I couldn't see any of the listed Chinese companies in the above list??
The fact that the UK government downgraded Covid19s risk as in infectious disease as late as March 19th should serve as confirmation they knew they were in the preverbal over PPE.
As by downgrading it (despite the contradictory global evidence) meant they would not have to procure much much larger amounts of PPE.
"As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) in the UK."
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/high-consequence-infectious-diseases-hcid
Two weeks beforehand the WHO (03 March) warned that PPE was running low and encouraged upscaling of production by 40%. On the 11 March 2020 (over a week before the UK downgraded Covid19) the WHO characterised it as a global pandemic.
https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/events-as-they-happen
When this is all over, there will inevitably be a public enquiry. Hopefully those in positions of accountability who have found to be negligent will answer for their abject failures.
The major issue that this pandemic has highlighted is the lack of contingency planning from Government and the largest corporations all the way down to small businesses and self employed individuals.
Failing to prepare and preparing to fail spring to mind.
Enjoying the fruits of success or labour to your limits and ignoring protecting the business and employees or even your own financial welfare as an employee seems to be the mindset of most nowadays.
Then when the $hite hits the fan its all of a sudden someone else's fault or responsibility.

Doubt this site has a sizeable enough bandwidth to list everything.
But hey, Matts got a target to meet, so from today, if your a nurse or a delivery driver, or a postman, or if you know a nurse, a delivery driver, or a postman, or have met someone who knows a nurse, a delivery driver or a postman, you get a test.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you get the ball rolling with anything PPE related? Did we genuinely not pursue equipment unlike other countries for example?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most PPE was being manufactured in China! That's the same communist, tyrannical government who first of all caused this virus to exist and then covered up its
existence from the rest of the world. I wonder if England and all other world effected world countries will have the backbone to demand financial reimbursement?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a list of the top 9 PPE manufacturers from 2016 to 2020.
https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20160905005103/en/Top-9-Vendors-Personal-Protective-Equipment-Market
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How have Germany, the best in Europe managed to also ignore and run short on PPE. If the best in Europe can’t get it right, what hope do the hapless brits have. Thankfully the 50,000 ventilators we were offered appear to not be needed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah it's funny seeing experts on here spout nonsense isn't it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dunno, haven't seen one yet., hope they can answer the three points I made?

Watch the Panorma documentary that aired on Monday night. This government did not have 1 single gown in stock available to provide for the front liners when the pandemic broke. They also counted one piece of glove as an item of PPE to inflate the figures.

You'd have to prove that the government 'caused this virus to exist' in the first place. Then you'd have to prove that they deliberately covered it up. Then you'd have to find a court that would take the case. I don't think a strongly worded statement from Boris would have the required impact tbh.

Because it's racist to deny those poor, impoverished people to come to the UK to take resources from those who are citizens and are entitled to them
-----
How do the poor impoverished people manage take resources away from Citizens? Get up off your ass and find a job and stop blaming people who work hard for your sheety life.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because in the eyes of the left, a poor immigrant from a country like Somalia is more deserving than a British citizen who has paid taxes.
The same garbage happens in the United States. Absolutely disgusting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You really believe this? That's insane but at least it's an excuse to hate.

Here's a list of the top 9 PPE manufacturers from 2016 to 2020.

And here's a list of Chinese PPE manufacturers:

I may be mistaken but I couldn't see any of the listed Chinese companies in the above list??
The fact that the UK government downgraded Covid19s risk as in infectious disease as late as March 19th should serve as confirmation they knew they were in the preverbal over PPE.
As by downgrading it (despite the contradictory global evidence) meant they would not have to procure much much larger amounts of PPE.
"As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) in the UK."

Two weeks beforehand the WHO (03 March) warned that PPE was running low and encouraged upscaling of production by 40%. On the 11 March 2020 (over a week before the UK downgraded Covid19) the WHO characterised it as a global pandemic.

How have Germany, the best in Europe managed to also ignore and run short on PPE. If the best in Europe can’t get it right, what hope do the hapless brits have. Thankfully the 50,000 ventilators we were offered appear to not be needed.
