Episode 5 was brilliant intact the whole show was. Yes it was over the top at times but easily one of the best British series. It was the British Gomorrah.

Family Guy

Funny in places, but smacks of lazy humour and animation. Basically a more edgy Simpsons rip off, without the wit that that show had in its hey day.

The Royle Family

Never understood what was so funny about it. Northern people acting like typical Northern people in front of a TV. Basically a scripted Gogglebox.

While I do enjoy it, I agree it's overrated. Often voted the best sitcom of all time. Definitely lots of sitcoms better and funnier than it. I can't remember ever finding it hilarious rather than amusing.

That was my pick too. Watched it into the 3rd series but, like you, it never had me excited for the next episode. There were undeniably good moments, but nothing to truly bring me in.

It may be a case of one of the series you watch after everyone else, and the hype has you expecting more.

I actually had this same sort of feeling with Sopranos. Watched all of it but never really loved it.
