We are finished for a fair few years.

No. Arsenal are at the beginning of their rebuild. Spurs haven't even started yet.

I don't see them competing for the title, but I don't think Utd will either. I see Arsenal and Spurs fighting it out with Utd for 4th spot if they get the right players in.

Obviously things can change quickly in football, but I don't think either will be a threat to the title for some time. At the moment you'd probably have to say Arsenal are better placed to at least challenge top four and they may be a more serious threat next season, but still a lot of work to be done if they are to be CL regulars again.

Spurs on the other hand look done. I was bemused when they appointed Mourinho as it just seems like a match made in hell, and so far it has turned out just about how I expected it to. If I was a Spurs fan I wouldn't want him to be given time to implement his own ideas and build his own team as I just think he will take them further away from where they want to be, both in terms of success and style of play. And worryingly Kane looks a shadow of his former self too.

I think with the injuries and style of play we’ve seen the best of Kane. Doubt anyone is gonna break the bank for him in these times either.

Liverpool, City, Chelsea and United will be comfortably clear of everyone else next season I’m pretty sure.

I think Arsenal will get back up near those teams sooner than Spurs will. Arteta seems to have done a decent job so far and they’re probably more willing to spend than Spurs. I don’t think Spurs will be much better next season than they are right now. It just doesn’t seem like Jose really gives a feck tbh lol

I'll admit to being a Wenger holdout right to the end. But a difficult choice had to be made by the board in the end, as the fractious environment around the club had become too poisonous.

Our long run of top-4 finishes had also become progressively tenuous over the past decade as other clubs made gains. Which probably made the decision easier for Stan Kroenke.

This is absolutely spot on.

Neither the Arsenal or Spurs boards have any interest in actually challenging for the title. They will do the bare minimum to get into the lucrative Top 4 places, and then slam on the financial anchors as soon as a manager starts showing any kind of ambition.

Not that I'm complaining.

Both are awful. Would only take Aubameyang and possibly Son (as backup) from both teams. Martinelli maybe depending on how he does when he comes back. They will be nowhere near top 4 next season. Jose is completely done. I actually feel sorry for Spurs fans having to put up with him for another yr. For Kanes own career he needs to move on in the summer

Spurs are done, we’ve got to hope for a repeat of fortunes similar to when we hired Poch. That can’t happen at least until Mourinho has been given the boot. I don’t trust Levy to make the right appointment, he’s had more failures than successes when picking managers.

As much as it pains me to say, I can see arsenal kicking on. Not to the level of title challengers but genuinely pushing for a top 4 spot.

Not really. Arsenal have a pretty weak squad with a couple of exceptions, plus a couple of exciting young players. Lots of work needed doing and doesn’t seem like there’s a lot of money to do it, plus we still have to see what Arteta is really like.

Spurs have quite a few quality players and with a few additions could be in a good spot, but again i don’t think the money is there and Jose is a wraith who will drain the life force out of a club. I do like their attacking options though, being able to select from Bergwijn, Son, Moura and Kane for an attack is excellent. If Jose had any sense he’d go for an attacking 4-3-3 and let them roam.

Son as back up? Behind who, Rashford?

I am quite a big fan of Rashford but I’d definitely be taking both Auba and Son ahead of Rashford. Both outstanding players

I’d agree but taking age into account I certainly wouldn’t swap.

No I wouldn’t have Son ahead of Rashford this season. Aubameyang I agree is outstanding

Don’t see either club being anywhere near the top spots in the near future. I think it’s gonna be tough for them to even break into the top four in the next few years with the teams United, Chelsea, City and Liverpool are building.

Outstanding is pushing it. He’s very good but feel he often goes missing when the chips are down but that’s Arsenal in general.

Goal frequency per minute ratio is not much better than Rashford and Martial this season.

Tbf to Son he’s had Jose for most of this season, and still arguably scored the goal of the season.

We’ve all seen what Jose can do to attacking talent, Rashford included.

Wolves are the closest to bridging the gap. If they can keep the likes of Jimenez, neves, traore, Jota and Neto around then with a couple additions they’ll be really strong again next season

Still think they are a long way from the top. They’ve been in the race for top 4 because everywhere below City has been dreadful and even then they’ve run out of steam.

Some good players and a good system but I’d be surprised if they are even knocking on the door next season.

2 seasons in a row they’ve been strong now though, and will surely have Europe for the second year in a row. I’m not saying next year they will, but there’s a clear long term project there they are working toward and they have the money to back it up.

I think they’ll finish below Spurs and Arsenal next season. They look closer than they are as everyone’s been shiiiit this season. Chelsea and United will be a lot more consistent next year, Wolves won’t be close. If Moutinho’s form falls off a cliff they’ll get worse.

But how difficult is it really to get a Top 4 spot?

Last year, a poor Arsenal side only missed out by a single point during Unai Emery's maiden season. And how on earth are we anywhere near smelling distance after the chaotic season we're having now?

Arteta only has to do a relatively decent job over the next couple of years and we'll be back up there in no time.

Maybe but I think they are a long way from the top 4 in reality especially if the biggest clubs are at it.

3rd and 4th place may well end up with less than 70 points unless they take maximum points.

An app I was viewing goes back as far as 11/12 and in that whole period only 2 sides have made top 4 with under 70 points.

The league is poor this season but will improve.
