Also Rooney won me £150, in my first ever attempt at fantasy football (nobody else had him as he was pretty much unknown) so I have a soft spot because of that too!

Well let you have that one Sizz.

Not in the list, but Rooney > Kane. And Shearer probably.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I never understood the Rooney hype if I'm honest, he could do some magical stuff don't get me wrong buti don't think he was as good as some say.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Totally agree mate. No doubt he was a very good player and very successful playing in an excellent United team through most his career, but Kane is no doubt the better striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly Don if he was as good as they say he would have ended up at Barcelona or Madrid.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Erm.....but look at what he’s won.

Rooney has definitely scored more spectacular goals than Harry. He’s more of a Gazza, and Harry’s more of a Teddy.

I don't think some people realise just how good Rooney was.

The fact that he changed his game to be a big player for United in more than one role was amazing.

Kane would probably be regarded as the better out and out striker but for me, Rooney was the better player of the two.

Personally, I think Kane will stay at Spurs for his entire career - trophies or not.

It's all about opinions I suppose, but the guy is Man Utd and England's record goalscorer!

I always felt a similar issue with Beckham. The guy was absolute class. One of the very best.

Shearer
Kane
Lineker
Wright
Sheringham
Defoe

I think Kane is probably the best or will go on to be but as his career isn't over then I place Shearer above him. Shearer definitely better at free kicks though.

Not even a contest. shearer comfortably. Kane second

Curious to know if those saying that the answer is Shearer comfortably were old enough to watch Lineker play?

Not a dig, just interested.

Caught the end of his career with Spurs and England, but I think Shearer had more strings in his bow as a striker. I don't really agree Shearer is miles ahead though.

Fair dos.

Always hard when comparing players from different generations as well.
