Wish him a swift recovery! I liked Blind too, a player who can play in a few positions

Sad to hear. A good player and even better person.

I wish him all the best

He needs to retire. He has an underlying heart condition ffs.

He probably will now. Having dodged the bullet twice?

It would seem to be the sensible thing to do. He can live comfortably on his wealth I would imagine. He needs to think of his family as well as himself.

Just saw the news. Glad he survived.

Not forcing an opinion upon you, however, if someone said to you:

You can live for 50 more years but on restricted terms (i.e. not participate in the thing you love); or

You get 10 more years, but play your heart out (no pun intended)

What would you pick?

I wish him well. He has a big decision now to take.

If the experts tell him he can manage it then he may well carry on.

Isnt the fact that the thing went off proof that it works, so he can carry on?

Erm, for 50 years obviously. You're talking about playing football here. There is a lot more to life.

I don't think it's obvious at all.

It might be "just" football to you, but it would be presumptuous to reflect that opinion on others. For some, it may quite literally be their life.

People are of differing philosophies on life. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that the answer will not be the same for everyone.

Get well soon Daley.

I doubt there is even a % of people who would choose kicking a ball for 10 years over being there for and with family, friends, loved ones for 50 years. And if anyone did choose that, then I'd suggest they are in need of help.

I think you're underestimating how seriously some people regard their respective passions. For some, a legacy is timeless, where a life is finite.

However trivial it may seem to you, people quite literally give their lives for their arts, crafts, ambitions, and passions all the time. I can think of a few who'd gladly take the 10 years and be able to play their guitar than 50 years without, for example.

As I say, not all people - not close to all people - but some. You also have to consider that not everyone has family, friends, loved ones, unfortunately.

10 years to play a guitar??? I am sorry what are you smoking. As already said to you, there is more to life. 50 years to spend time with your mum, wife, kids, husband compared to kicking a ball or playing a guitar for 10 years. Yes, they may be one or two people that do this, but on the whole most sane individuals will take 50 years of living and enjoying life.

I am saying that there may be more to life for YOU, however, there are others (and I can guarantee that it is a lot more than one or two) that would argue that their art or passion IS their life; to take that away would be to take away their purpose.

Christ, an example is all around us in football, within which retired players struggle massively with depression and other mental health issues that can ultimately and tragically end in suicide. Because they lose their purpose in life. And that's having had a full career.

As I have said a few times, I'm not saying that it has to make sense to you or that you have to agree with it, but I think there are examples of the reality if you go looking for them.

Most players that go into depression after football is more to do with money rather than the passion they have for the game. They start spending like they are still earning footballers wages and come to the realisation one day they may file for bankruptcy, that can take even a normal folk like myself into depression.

I am sure there are more than one or two people. For me personally, I think anyone that chooses the former is an idiot. But that's just me.

Some people don't have a wife and children.
Not everyone has the same outlook on life like others have. For some people it is their passion and they will die for it.
