Time to stop the spending?

We have spent a lot, but I think the money looks to have improved the overall quality of the team, and we just need someone to play in Pablo's position as and when needed.
Pablo is one of our best players, but I don't think he w[ll play as much this season because of age and injjuries

I really wish people would stop comparing us with Fulham, they came down with nearly the same squad and still had to go through the playoffs.

They have Scott Parker as manager, that's what Fulham are what they are.

Els.. am very happy with the transfers so far.. I was very keen on not adding too many players, and sticking with a high percentage of the squad that has played so well together for two years.. but I do think quality additions were needed.

Happy so far, add De Paul and a LB and thats not whole sale changes, but defo quality additions.

and agree with Harrogate above ref Fulham

On the flip side, you can also say Villa spent a lot last season and survived, albeit by the skin of their teeth but it was enough. I do think this Leeds side look more equipped tactically, physically and mentally than what the likes of Fulham/Villa have anyway within the last couple of seasons so I think you'll be fine.

I do understand the spending concern especially with previous financial troubles and the financial uncertainty that coronavirus is bringing with many clubs across the Football League, if you were to return there.

-----------

thing is with Villa, they bought quantity, not quality last year, they had a million players out of contract according to a mate of mine who is a villa fan.

theres a big difference in spending money wisely and not spending money wisely - I do think we've done the former

I think we have to keep reminding ourselves that this
is the cost of doing business at the top. 80+ mill does sound hefty. Comparing to Pete's 100 mill debt isn't
a true reflection. I'm no accountant, but, 100 mill back
in 2000s is probably closer to double that now.

Depends how you spend it. We have had a dreadful window so far & currently the side is worse than last season. £40 million plus on Rodrigo & Koch could have possibly secured Ben White which would have won us a point at Liverpool. So far those two so called acquisitions have done nothing but cost us three penalties.
We never learn.

How can anyone possibly say whether it was a good window or not? We've played 2 fkin games!

I trust this is a troll, if not its one of the worst takes I have ever seen

Saw a great image of Klich taking his pen last week, Fulham’s players looked out on there feet at least five Leeds players were following the ball in,

And also, Fulham and Villa spent 100m each on about 10 unheard of players from the Belgian league...…..there's a big difference and method to what we are trying to do

Tbh, 80m sounds about right for a promoted club. Its not a lot of money if you stay in the Premier league.

No, it is a serious comment from one who really cares & who has supported our team since the days of John Charles.

The balance to be made is keeping enough of the core that got you there, while also getting players who are familiar with the english game and preferably the EPL while obvioulsy adding quality.

Where Fulham fell down when they last came up is that they didnt fulfil the first 2 of the above.

And to add to your comment Batty, the 80m+ we are spending is not debt and comes from the coffers filled on promotion.

Angus said we'd be more like Sheff Utd than Villa and Fulahm and use what we have, instead of spending loads Also said we wouldn't gamble on January signings yet we signed an unfit striker who's club now want to sue us.

Next he'll say our third kit will be a traditional colour that represents the club and it'll turn out to be Purple.

I’d actually like purple Shaun, muscle fit of course 😀

Totally agree with Harrogate above, the window is not even finished yet! We won’t truly know if it’s been a good window or not for a few months..

I am happy so far as I’ve stated, because I think they’ll do well, let’s all hope on right on this haha. I think it’s more trusting Bielsas call on players that I don’t doubt or worry so much now!

very harsh in my opinion. dreadful? penalties happen and i was only upset at the rodrigo one, looked a little lazy.
if we were to sign de paul now i'd say it was a fantastic window. without him a good one but i don't think that should be all we buy.
i think you're being a bit quick to judge but i'll go the other way a say i think koch will be a better player than white.

posted on 25/9/20

also we didn't even have our first cb pairing against liverpool.

Purple better than pink, Brown and red i suppose. Think the club have spent a good amount and done well so far

It's a risky strategy, Els, I agree, but a risky strategy got us Bielsa, and got us into the Premier League. It can go either way - we can do a Fulham or we can do a Wolves, but whatever happens, with Bielsa, he will get the best out of the players, and out of the club. If he gets it right, we will be Champions League in two seasons.
This is the best time in 30 years to be a Leeds fan, even better than when O'Leary was in charge. Something magical is happening at Leeds. The curse has been lifted and we leaving the past far behind.

The thing is we won’t be paying £80m upfront. Those fees will be spread over as long a period as the club could negotiate.

It’s a lot but I’m sure our owner knows what he is doing.

Doesn’t matter when you pay it, you still have to pay it.
