If the officials are deemed incompetent .. it’s wrong to call them incompetent?

Right.. ok.

posted on 18/10/20

So Winston.. what other explanations can there be for Pickford going unpunished.

I’ve postulated :
-looked at and deemed fine
-not even looked at

Any others you’d add there?

Why are you asking me about the Pickford incident?

It’s got nothing to do with my point. It’s simple whataboutery.

posted on 18/10/20

And no, he didn’t call them incompetent. He implied bias and corruption.

posted on 18/10/20

Corruption ffs!

Ah so you think it’s not worth being part of the discussion what went on in the game

Noted then, you only look at events in total isolation.

I’m quite sure the Pickford incident has zero relevance to whether Henderson’s comments are worthy of action or not, yes.

And yes, corruption. He clearly implied the officials are bending the lines to reach a certain outcome.

posted on 18/10/20

How did he “clearly” imply that?

posted on 18/10/20

"I think they bend the lines sometimes to make it offside."

“I think they bend the lines sometimes to make it offside. I’m not sure how they do it, I’ve seen it before.”

He thinks, he’s not sure how it’s done.
But he’s seen it before

Not exactly clear.

No surprise for you to focus on that and not the Pickford challenge though.

The non action and possible repercussion of the Pickford incident should be far far more worthy of discussion than what Hendo said after the match. As that leave of incompetency can affect each and every club.

posted on 18/10/20

So you have your answer about how he clearly implied it then and that means the insinuation is that officials are deliberately trying to come to the wrong decision - that is usually a standard charge with the FA.

As for this tripe:

"No surprise for you to focus on that and not the Pickford challenge though."

I've commented plenty on the Pickford challenge and my post history will bear that out.

Just because you're so immature that you can't handle a negative comment about anything related to Liverpool doesn't mean the rest of us can't comment objectively on things.

Negative comment about Liverpool?

Your objectivity is clearly in the bin if you decline to put forward why you think Pickford wasn’t penalised.

Fwiw, Hendo shouldn’t have made those comments, he might get a fine.

The spotlight has been firmly thrown on the officiating using VAR.
If anyone can tell why Mane was offside let’s hear it.
If anyone can tell why Pickford wasn’t penalised let’s hear it.

Lfc call on the premier league to explain the decisions and suddenly idiots are up in arms about it.

"Your objectivity is clearly in the bin if you decline to put forward why you think Pickford wasn’t penalised."

No, I decline to allow you to steer my comment about Henderson into a discussion about Pickford.

I think this is my first comment about Henderson. I made several about the Pickford incident yesterday, so your comment about 'no surprise for me to focus on that' is just rubbish.

I really don't know why you couldn't just take my comment for what it was and discuss it, rather than looking for some ulterior motive.

Thank you for at least acknowledging the point about his comments anyway.

I don't blame LFC for complaining about it but I actually think it would be better if a collection of clubs affected by it did it as a group. Although this is possibly the first case of a really bad tackle going unpunished by VAR so maybe that's why.

I have absolutely no idea how it was “missed” or deemed “okay”

Unless someone else can explain that it is in the interests of all, including that of player safety that the question is asked.

Won’t stop opposition fans being up in arms.. including some Man U brethren of yours.

posted on 18/10/20

Well, if we’re going to blame people for all the things that fans of their club have said then none of us will come out very well.

Fair dos.

I have to agree with Winston on this one. Henderson has made a comment that could reasonably be inferred as the officials deliberately moving the lines to ensure an offside. I wouldn't be shocked if he got a warning about it.

Understandable given his frustration but he needs to be careful about it.

David Coote has seriously blundered with VAR - and not for the first time.

Lo Celso got stamped on by Azpilicueta - same official
Leicester denied a pen when debruyne puts his arms in front of his face - same official
VVD axed by Pickford - same official

He’s paid to make the right decision with all the tech around him.

Needs binning that bloke.

I don't know why they can't just use the feet as the line. And at the same time if the call is marginal, like an inch here or there then just favour the attacker and forget all this millimeter crap.

posted on 18/10/20

Not even just millimetres though..could be upto 10cm here..

Definitely not offside. The software reacts to where the official puts the red (Liverpool) line in relation to the blue (Everton line)

There’s no way Mane is closer to the red line than the Everton players boot.

Utter shambles by that dipstick Coote in the VAR room, and not for the first game either, he’s made a balls up in two other games where he was said to have made a human error.

Fack off

Because everyone has a different idea of what a "minimal" transgression is and it will lead to unfairness. Team A scores a goal that is 5 inches offside but the linesman Missed it. VAR shows it offside but its close so they let it stand.

Team B then score an equaliser that is 4 inches offside and the linesman sees it and flags. VAR confirms the decision was correct.

Team A has won the game thanks to an incorrectly awarded offside that was worse than the goal disallowed for Team B. Extremely unfair.

I believe a socially distance protest outside Anfield is on the cards, and a petition to get Pickford banned for as long as VVD is out injured

Why would we want to try to help strengthen Everton?
