Best place to be during a pandemic is a building site, the virus can't stand seeing builder's crack...

Construction work is still allowed under Scotland’s new lockdown, which comes into effect on Tuesday (5 January), unlike during the restrictions introduced in the country last April.

The very one Zico.

She was screaming for Cummings to be sacked & charged last April.

At least Cummings was in his own car & not on public transport.

And not mingling with a bunch of MP’s and staff.

What’s the story now, Ginger? Your folks just get the one jab now or is it still the two-stager?

You can see how much attention I’ve been paying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They get the first one on Thursday is as far as I got with them. Suspect it’ll be a good few weeks later before they get their second.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This was my point earlier. The 90yo mil hasn’t heard a dickie bird. She doesn’t know if it’s been dropped in the gutter by the postie but watches fooking Sprightly 80yo Pru Leith all over the media getting hers weeks ago.

I demand someone on here tell me a date and time for her jab so I’m protected from her.

We’ve just found out that a close family member who is a doctors receptionist is getting hers next week. Under 50. No underlying health conditions. Scotland.

I’ll say no more. Astounded doesn’t even come close.

Absolutely no chance that they’ll get all the vulnerable the vaccine but the middle of February.

More chance of Ajer closing that gap on Saturday

Why I said earlier vaccine envy is about to go through the roof. Some poor sod is making decisions and for every perceived winner there’s a perceived loser.

Why they can’t stick to a priority list I just don’t know.

I got that with the Pfizer they had doses to use up before the became obsolete from the temperature requirements so when they couldn’t get hold of the right person instead used them on medical staff.

No excuse for pre planning or the use of the Oxford vaccine though. It’s appalling.

But it will require a rapid acceleration in vaccination rates.

So far nearly one million people have been vaccinated.

By the end of the week that number is expected to double.

The hope is that later in January two million doses a week will be given.

That will be the minimum needed – there are around 12 million in those priority groups.

By vaccinating them, there is the potential to prevent close to nine in 10 deaths.

But achieving that requires a lot to go right.

There is enough vaccine in the country to vaccinate that many people, but not all of it has been through the final “fill and finish” process which involves packaging it in glass vials (and there is a shortage of those) and then the batches have to be checked and signed off by the regulator – a process that is taking weeks at the moment.

And all of that is before it is sent out to the NHS vaccination centres to inject it into people’s arms.

From the bbc.

My sister in law got her vaccine before Christmas. She works in admin in an hospital. Personally, I don’t mind that as they are trying to secure the hospital from covid as much as possible. The only one in my house who might qualify for it soon is my wife as she’s asthmatic (used to just think I was really good, but no).

As long as folk are literally not jumping the queue without they’re being an obvious reason why, I’m going to just wait my turn.

Remember also the more who get the jab the safer you yourself are.

imo

Vaccine roll out will max at 1m a week from maybe mid February. Up to then we might get another 2m done leaving say 9m.

At that rate we get to end April and then there’s a 21 day minus wait for reasonable efficacy. From that it’ll be another month or two before the NHS gets the benefits and even then they’ll have a ridiculous backlog of other issues which will demand they are further protected from.

So in my mind I’m already thinking July before any real easing (although education should be back) and end of the year before things like pubs open properly or we can even think about getting to a game.

I get where you’re coming from and understand your scepticism, but I think and hope you’re wrong.

I think the easing of pressure from covid on the NHS will happen before that, and as we only have a plan a (vaccinate as many as possible), then they’ll have to ramp that up.

Just my thoughts on it.
