Well taken, Wickers

Rooney is squeezing the absolute most out of what he has got. Don’t forget we have a 34 year old journeyman has-been/ never was as our main man and the bench is made up of kids. Our leader at the back who we thought was essential is out for the season. It would have been so easy for us to have folded but we have got a real backbone to the team. We haven’t got much quality but we are scrapping away which is great to see.

I think Rooney has been terrific, I hope Mel backs him in the transfer window. We could do with a couple of experienced players in.

Well done Rams today.

We need to pay the wages first ... transfer embargo still in place until they are paid in full.

Think the players understand their role in the team with Rooney as manager. Keeps it simple, not too much tinkering with the team and formations.Get the ball forward quickly and get players and the ball in the box, no rocket science

Seems the players play better if you don't pay them. Could set a trend in the EFL.

We are desperate for some back-up for CKR. A little bit of craft in midfield would not go amiss either, well though they are doing.

I was on dry January but gave up yesterday, so can now celebrate this properly 😀

That's a coincidence, I gave up dry January as well.....on 02/01/21.

Rooney said in his interview that he will be on the phone to Morris and Pearce this evening “to see where we’re at”. Which suggests they weren’t at the game. Maybe something is finally in the offing.

I'm not sure "non playing staff" are allowed to travel to away games? Non essential travel.

Ah, that would make sense. Is McLaren essential though? He was there, and Kaide Gordon was next to him.

Mcclaren is part of the wider coaching team i guess. Gordon... maybe was part of matchday squad but not named in 18?
Who knows!!

Fair play, you were the better team overall. But wot about our penalty shout ? Onest answers only please.

Morning After View:
A satisfying back to back victory for the first time this season and inching away from the dreaded R Zone.
Have Wayne Rooney's Derby turned a corner ? Well, if the players all operate at their maximum it would seem so. I thought Bielik, Joz & Kazim were a little bit quieter than Tuesday, but I guess playing 2 games a week at high intensity is difficult - unless you're Shinnie / Knight.
If Rooney is true to his word then Marshall shouldn't walk straight back in because Roos has shown that with competent defenders in front of him he can be a really good Shot Stopper.
So overall a satisfying week for the Rams. Next week should be interesting as hopefully the Manager will be allowed to bring in a couple of new faces.....

We've had several penalty claims like that go against us of late....so not surprised the Ref waved it away tbh, especially as Richards was trying to get his arm out of the way....

Poiiticians answer Mr. Cognac man. The question was about the penalty shout yesterday not wot as transpired in the past.

I do not believe that these should be given as penalties. We had a very similar one in a game recently where right at the death the ball hit the arm of a player who was trying to prevent a cross. The majority of us thought it should have been given but not me. I think intent should be the main deciding factor. One view made it look as though the arm was a long way away from the body but that happens when you are trying to jump. The ball just hit his arm.

The point is somewhat moot though. Roos would certainly have saved the penalty if it had been given, assuming the QPR player had managed to get it on target that is.

Honest answer? No penalty because the ref didn't give a penalty.

However you should have had a penalty, CKR very lucky to be out of sight of the ref when the ball rolled down his arm.

Honest answer RR ... not a penalty. The rule states there has to be a deliberate movement of the arm towards the ball and that the arm must be in an unnatural position.

CKR was clearly trying to pull his arm behind his back out of the way of the ball AND his arm was flat by his side.

Therefore by the rules, no penalty

But ... seen lots like that given and I'd have been appealing myself

Rumours are that IF embargo is lifted that Phil Jones, Niasse and Ince might be on their way in. These would all improve our squad. Jones instead of Evans is a stronger back three and we are short on centre half depth anyway. Niasse would be a very good alternative to CKR. Ince would not be a popular choice but for a half-season loan he would give an option off the bench who might realistically get us a goal in a tight game. Just rumours though.

Agree, we need a Ckr alternative - although some would say we have one in Waggy. For me whatever Waggy's attributes are I don't think he's in the same mould as Kazim. Equally (again for me) in Lawrence we have a player similar to Ince, who, on his day can turn a game....gotta say I don't know Niasse.

posted on 24/1/21

Niasse was at Everton. They paid about 13m for him but he never established himself. Rooney will know him from his second stint there. I think he is without a club at the moment. Based on that he sounds an uninspiring signing but not as uninspiring as CKR was perceived to be!
