Interesting to see what position ends up suiting Corbeanu best. He gets his share of goals so might make a central striker. But one of his strengths is his dribbling ability so may be better in the channels. Could end up being a similar sort to Jota I reckon

Ruben Vinagre evidently been impressing at Familicao in recent months. Evidently being watched by Benfica so some offers might come in for him in the summer

Pleased for Corbeanu, he must be buzzing after last night.

An U21s tournament was played out over the weekend as part of their European championships. The organisers then selected a team of the weekend from all the participating countries and Vitinha made it into that team

I heard yesterday that San Marino were the lowest ranked team in the world, well having watched those highlights, Id fancy them to give Burmuda a thrashing. Well done to Theo though, a dream start for him. I've only seen him play in wide positions for the u23s but he looks big and strong enough to hold a central role, would really like to see him given a first team at some stage late in the season with a view to getting him out on loan next season maybe.

Yeah I suspect San Marino are not the 210th best team in football but more likely 170th or so but unfortunately they have only ever won a single game in their history and that was back in 2004 against Liechtenstein. Part of the reason I like the nations league thing is that it gives those lesser nations a chance to actually put in a good performance and perhaps get something out of a game as San Marino did mange two draws the last year or so.

Hello Wolves fans is Saiss a guaranteed starter for you? want to bring him in my fantasy team as he's more of of a goal threat than Coady but he's been in and out of the team this season. Thanks guys

Would be a risky one but he will probably be starting the rest of the season. Kilman would be the one potentially taking his place in a back three though of course we could try a back four again and then he would be on the bench.

Good story about the Brighton keeper Sanchez who last summer was their 5th choice. Had good loan spells at Forest Green and Rochdale then came back and got a chance in the Brighton first team. Kept a string of clean sheets to help them get improved results. Now he is competing with de Gea to be first choice for the Spanish team

Cheers Cincy, will probably end up going with Coady to be safe

Yeah and Coady is actually being allowed forward more often these days for dead ball situations. End of the day with so few games left either scoring is relatively ulikely.

Portugal drew 2-2 with Jota getting both goals.

Neto and Neves unused subs and Moutinho not even in squad which makes me wonder if he took a knock in their last game. Came off at half time having had a blinder in the first half.

Embarrassing defeat for the Republic tonight as they lost to Luxembourg in Dublin. Not won a match yet with Stephen Kenny in charge. Can’t imagine him staying much longer. He took over from Mick McCarthy who only lost one of the ten games he was in charge

Mick McCarthy is "trending" on Twitter tonight. Had to take a look. Many posts seem to be summarised by this one...

Funny how every team Mick leaves is in disarray after. Makes you wonder what he does to them.

Also I had no idea this even happened......

McCarthy joined Cypriot First Division club APOEL as manager on 2 November 2020; he signed a contract until 2022.[54] He was sacked by the club on 5 January 2021 following a run of 2 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats in his 8 games in charge.[55]

Ireland are a shambles, have won one game since September 2019 and that was a friendly against New Zealand. Not to mention completely blowing Euro qualification by failing to win any of their last four qualifying games.

That’s the point posters are making. Every club that thinks sacking Mick will improve things instantly collapse after doing so. Wolves were highlighted as dropping down two divisions after sacking him, even though they were in a position that other clubs have survived from when he was ousted, in early February.

We are so lucky that after the disasters that followed from Saunders, Stale, etc, we were able to return to the Championship, and then get the Fosun takeover.

We collapsed while Mick was at the helm unfortunately and then couldn't recover. Doyle had to retire early and all the other players plummeted through the leagues. Perhaps he just flogs players to death.

Amazing end to the Portugal game tonight after Ronaldo walked off the pitch after being booked for protesting that his last minute goal was disallowed. The ball was clearly a yard over the line but the goal was not given and Portugal had to settle for a draw after losing a two goal lead given them by two Diogo Jota goals

Certainly crossed the line. But whoever followed up should have buried the rebound anyway

This is the dilemma that faces the decision makers.

Do you sack the skipper of the Ever Given for getting the ship stuck? Then the new captain comes on board and tries a manoeuvre that sinks the ship?

The fact remains that new managers have replaced Mick over the years, and without exception have always made things worse, which was obviously not the intention when they took over.

Always said there’s only ever one good reason to change manager and that’s to bring in someone better. Ipswich and Ireland failed miserably on that principle when they replaced Mick and Wolves actually failed with their next three appointments by bringing in Connor, Solbakken and Saunders

Maybe Cardiff will learn from previous clubs' mistakes.

For the rest of the season I shall be now eight hours behind the UK, I hope Wolves don't have any 12.30 kick offs as I won't be going out of my way to get up at 4.30 with nothing to play for.
