Some Thoughts

mcgregor is the best keeper i've seen at rangers.

interestingly i see him and fraser forster the same way, world class at celtic and rangers but average elsewhere, and its not because scotland is a "pub league" , they pill off outstanding saves in europe against big hitters as well.

the clubs suit them, its the biggest factor for me this year, rangers have a top keeper and we don't, i said last year that Forster coming back was essential to 10.

Yeah I never thought Goram would be surpassed in my lifetime but think McGregor should now be talked about in the same breath. It's crazy he's still got those reflexes and pulling off stops at 39.

Thing is he's actually key to our gameplan in these games now. Rangers can give up the extra man in the middle against the diamond because they know that whilst it gives Christie, McGregor and Turnbull a bit more space to get a shot away it will have to be some effort to beat him from outside the box. With a weaker keeper I'm not sure we're as comfortable with that. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets another new deal next year, shows no signs of regressing.

Scotland would be wise to sound McGregor out about the Euros, agreed on Patterson but Clarke is a dinosaur. I would hope with Jack out Gilmour is also getting a call.

If Leeds want Kent, negotiations start at 20m.

Celtic need a huge rebuild.

McGregor is by far and away the most influential of signings in Scotland for some years now.

We can argue all day about the rest of the assumptions and statements made in the OP but the McGregor thing I think is without question.

They should be on the phone to McGregor absolutely but the TA wouldn't accept him back and not sure he would agree to it anyway.

Rather controversially, i'm not as sold on Turnbull as everyone else seems to be.

I think he's decent but doesn't significantly stand out, lots of balls he plays are over hit and he's not the most mobile. Good eye for a pass but still got a lot of development before he can be the main man for a good Celtic team

Yeah but he's still young and relatively new to first team football. Before he signed for Celtic he had only played one season in the senior game.

He's a bit raw but plenty of talent there to work with and I imagine in a couple of years he will be the best midfielder in the country. If developed properly I think he could be Celtic's next big financial asset, they are running out of those at the moment.

we are all over the place, no interest, no tactics, and a lack of common sense and quality in the full back positions.

we lose goals from crosses, so we play a diamond and free up the wings.

insane.

But i think a good manager and a couple of signings makes all the difference, to have taken in the money we have for tierney and frimpong and have 2 loan signings start in their positions is sickening to be honest

I'd compare him to Hagi but I think Hagi is more creative.

Little between them but both are still playing in moments and need to be more influential over longer periods.

I can understand the diamond against us as we play with 3 in the middle so allows you to dominate that area. But leaves you exposed on the counter and in wide areas too which is where both the goals came from.

I think Celtic seem to have a bit of a blind spot with the diamond as it lets them dominate the ball but ultimately in the last 3 games used it hasn't produced any results. It suits Rangers to soak up whatever you have and keep shots mainly from outside the box and then exploit the gaps wide when the opportunity arises.

Monumental feck up after monumental feck up this season.

At least Rangers now know how it feels playing against utter gumf

Patterson and Tavernier at right back is a nice headache to be having.

The Gers need to consolidate and try to improve further now. Whether we qualify for the Champions League is huge for us. At least one 'big' player might need to sold, if bids come in. Anybody who is sold will obviously need to be replaced, a couple of key players are coming towards the end of their careers as well and - despite appearances - they can't go on forever. So we have plenty to do. Our recent recruitment has been very good, let's hope that continues.

we had enough great chances to win yesterday.

a bad season, and a new guy needs time to assess what he needs.

so its only right that we do our usual and take ten years to do anything.

i think rangers will get to the groups, i'll more shocked if you dont

As for the McGregor bum licking. It was an absolutely shocking penalty

Greedy cant should have let Griffiths take it

It is absolutely nailed on that we will get Slavia Prague in the playoffs to have to qualify. Nothing surer.

I'm not as confident about getting to the groups though, I think there are 3 or 4 clubs we could play and we wouldn't be favourite in any of them. Plus without Kamara and Roofe, as well as anyone we sell in summer. Still a huge ask.

its not bum licking to say a good keeper is a good keeper joe

though we know how good you are at judging talent based on your love of stokes...

Jonjoe Kenny man woeful.

See again yesterday, not often we create so many chances in an old firm game but it's the same story over and over again, it's an embarrassment. Can't defend and have no bottle in front of goal. The Moi one sums it up, why he takes a touch is anyone's guess. Half the goal was there if he tapped it in first time. Guess it's a perfect example of having no confidence.

Nothing surer than missing that penalty too btw.

He made other saves...

I wouldn't want a guy that can't get fit after a whole season of apparently trying hitting my pens

Jonjoe Kenny is a mystery. He's played about 50 games in the Premiership for one of the better clubs in that league. He genuinely doesn't look any better than any of the right backs up here.

It's actually baffling that Celtic have raked in about £35m in transfer fees for full backs and are now going in to games like yesterday with 2 loans.
