Neville is part of the problem though at Sky. He talks about money but yet he is working at Sky who are basically contributing to giving the clubs the money they need to set the ESL up. Not only that, but he talks about greed yet was working for Sky when they announced a pay-per-view scheme during a pandemic last year. If he really felt so strongly about it, he should have left.

Not only that, but he goes on about hooliganism, the state of stadiums etc in the 80's and how clubs like Man City have developed excellent stadiums, world class facilities etc. That all happened through the influence of money. If anything, a ESL could provide even more funds to open up more facilities, improve their facilities even further, help improve the local community, give more access to the less-able, unfortunate, disability children for example at football schools/camps across the UK.

I'm not defender of the ESL should it be formed, as it does take away the right to fair competition which is morally wrong, but I did think Neville was quite contradictory with what he was saying and he didn't understand the implications of how football has changed over the last 30 years. It's all been centered around money and this is seems to be the clubs' way forward with it.

Sky have a massive agenda here.

Their product will be second rate and the money will disappear, no wonder nev and carra worried about their multi million pound contracts.

I’m against this idea, but give it a rest Sky.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
More bollox, told you before, of course Sky is not liking this, because they invested billions in TV rights. Nothing wrong with that, no second agenda, just protecting their investment. FFS
----------------------------------------------------------------------
they made billions too and started this gravy train, now their worried their product will be an irrelevance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sky can just by the rights to this too.

Seriously, they have a massive subscription platform and room to manoeuvre with now TV.

And the amount this costs them will be offset by the lowering of the value of the premiership.

It was actually the clubs and the Premier League that agreed the pay per view. Sky were just a selected provider. Gary Neville spoke out against it.

My bad then for that one.

Even still though, he didn't walk away from Sky despite that. So when he talks about greed himself then perhaps he does need to look a bit closer to home. As I say if he felt that strongly about it, make a statement and leave.

Neville part of the problem

OK Sky, Carragher and Neville are not exactly pure as snow but I can deal with that and actually their debate is measured and passionate and represents accuratly the vast majority of views of every fare minded supporter opposed to this potential earthquake of a shift in our national game and the game worldwide.

I personally think Man. City will pull out of this before the week is out. Their owners are all about image and they will not want this huge amount of negativity attached to them. Also they certainly do not need the money so can afford to not be part of this and once they leave this grubby gang of 12 the pressure from government, fan groups, media, players and managers will shoot this whole thing dead in the water.

However the Billionaire owners that proposed this ludicrous plan should definitely receive some form of punishment that doesn't punish their players and their fans. Maybe put them in the stocks and throw custard pies at them!

But at the same time, why would footballers come and make a stand about their clubs' owners when the decision is out of their hands entirely?

Like I say, if Neville felt that strongly about ripping people off, he could have easily walked from Sky Sports because of that. But he didn't. Along with others like Carragher as well.

He has repeatedly said he has no problem with money in football. He doesn't like the taking away the competitive merit of the sport or the tearing up of the English game at the expense of fans. Maybe you should try listening to what he says before getting angry about him?

I'm talking about greed, not money. He has been moaning about the owners of these clubs because it's greed. Like when he said last night "why do Man City need this extra money with the facilities they have got?"

So I did listen to what he said, he has an issue with the greed of these clubs as well as the lack of competition. I'm not disagreeing with him about the competitiveness and unfairness, but what I am saying he has contradicted himself about calling owners greedy when he sits in the same boat working at Sky.

I never said he wasn't allowed to have an opinion, I just said it contradicts his own stance. I'm also not saying that is necessarily wrong, as everybody wants more money. But in that case there isn't a criticism for clubs or people being "greedy".

Have you ever moved jobs for a pay rise? If so, then you are greedy and cannot stand against this Super League proposal as you have seeked to increase your own income.
