Yeah it was terrific. He's a very good ball winning defender and very aggressive in the air. I really like him.
Think favourites for cup will probably be based on league position until the draw i.e Hibs favourites St Johnstone next etc etc. However if they two are drawn together in the semi finals then the cup really is anyone's. Not sure how Kilmarnock and St Mirren will pan out but on Killies plastic pitch I'd put them slight favourites.
I personally would prefer the winner of this tie in the semi as I think off their plastic pitch and on Hampdens bigger pitch we would have a great chance against Killie and St Mirren and us would be a coin toss but if we played as well as we did against Aberdeen then I think we would be doing ok. Made decent viewing yesterday for a change but I couldn't celebrate the goals as my toddler decided to use me as his afternoon sleep location.
Agree McNulty is starting to look like the player we hoped we were signing but maybe the shape and tactics of the team are now helping that. Hopefully the whole sending the team out not to lose is gone and we will see more of this performance the rest of the season.
Side note, If United win the cup Mellon will go! He can't achieve much more than a cup win with United so he can call him self a success and head back to the English leagues he knows.
It'd all in United's hands now - they can only throw it away.

To be fair that is probably true for all teams left. Having no Old Firm left at the semis stage has provided a very intriguing season finale. Well for us of a non old firm support. I'm sure Rangers and Celtic fans don't really care because they can't win and neither can their rivals. I suspect that Rangers fans will now back whoever is playing United now.
Might have been a turgid season but Mellon done a great job to keep Utd up and if he wins the cup he'll go down as a hero. I'd imagine the club were utterly desp to remain in the league this season at all costs

It's inevitable mate. And I can't underestimate how sporting Liverpool have been this season to let others have a shot at winning the league after your recent success. No doubt normal service will be resumed next season.
I suspect that Rangers fans will now back whoever is playing United now.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Is that what you think, aye?
I hate to break it to you but most Rangers fans I know couldnt care less who wins the cup. If anything they might want St Johnstone to win it because of the performance they put in against us and a cup double would go down in history for them.
The thought would never even enter my head to support whoever was playing Dundee United. Why the fook should it?
A lot of Rangers fans seem to hold a significant grudge against United.

Perhaps I should have added a smiley to emphasise the joke but I thought it was apparent (sorry) but as Ivan has alluded to there is significant dislike from rangers fans to Dundee United. I'm not going to say if it's justified or not but it all seems pretty to me. Also add noone who made the decisions most rangers fan cite as their reason for their dislike of United is even connected to the club anymore.

I'm very sorry I brought this topic up even in jest as you seem genuinely seem upset that another club should be disliked by your own fans. I know it might be stepping on Rangers fans toes after all they even have a song all about this. However this dislike or even hatred does exist with a significant number of Rangers fans. As I said earlier it's up to someone else to decide on the merits of said dislike.
Was a great performance by United under the circumstances but that was absolutely the worst performance I've ever seen domestically from Aberdeen (Sigma Olomouc game wins overall - Stuart Duff at centre-back FFS).
Forfar gave United infinitely more resistance than Aberdeen did. The players barely broke beyond a jog all game. Some more clinical finishing and actual effort from United in the last half-hour could have seen a real rout - could have been another 9-0.
Put simply, Aberdeen look like a team that have just sacked a club legend as manager and are heading for a death spiral, much like their slump after foolishly sacking Calderwood.
