Most managers won’t start young kids that have never played internationals over experienced internationals. It’s not football manager.

Scouting is so much more sophisticated than it used to be

I wouldn't call systematically going through Football Manager's database editor sophisticated

if you're good enough you're old enough, and its why a lot of them don't get respect. The top managers can make a team out of good players regardless of age and exp.

i thought the you don't win anything with kids thing been proven bollox already, thought a united fan of all would know.

hes 19 not that young played 47 times for dutch champions last season too. played at every under level internationally. everyone has to start somewhere.

It hadn’t, United were the exception to the rule. Generally these players aren’t good enough, which is why you don’t get many teenagers starting for title winning clubs and big nations are international tournaments.

People massively overrate talented young players. They tend to rate them on what they could be rather than what they are. And then sit there and wonder why they don’t start for big clubs and national teams, and so called lesser players play ahead of them.

What about Rooney? He was highly rated after bursting on to the scene at Euro 2004. He then went on to smash major tournaments scoring a world cup goal in his career. Not everyone who is highly rated as a youngster disappoints in future big tournaments.

Placing Diouf and Diao alongside the name of James Rodríguez

Rodriguez is still a quality player who has had some ups and downs like a lot of players do.

I can see Turkey doing reasonably well and one of their players getting snapped up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hakan Çalhanoğlu will score some free kicks and everyone will lose their shiiit
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool have been linked to him and we have form!

Top of my head Diouf, Diao, Cisse (who I liked), Baros maybe?? Origi. LFC love a tourney signing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i thought baros was with us when he had the good tourney?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah I didnt check it clearly cos a couple have said we'd already sign Diouf and Diao but I thought it was during/after.

That was the New zidane Cheyrou summer wasn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And the time when Liverpool bought Berger and United bought Poborsky. Fergie signed the wrong Czech
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I always thought Poborsky had talent. Maybe we tried to play him too far wide, if I remember rightly.

none of the czech players really delivered.

Patrick berger was cool but inconsistent.

Not sure that Cisse counts. We signed him in 2004 but he didn't play in the Euros because he got a 5 match ban after being sent off in the qualifying playoff.

Not banter signings and not sure how regularly they'll feature but I rate Doku and Gravenberch very highly, and could see them earning moves to one of the European elite in the near future.

Wow I can't believe nobody said it as a potential serious option (at least I don't think they have, only scanned briefly), SHAME ON YOU Gooners. Never mind, I'll big up our boy and suggest that our very own Bukayo Saka is a Euros youngster whom could well return home with a fat price tag on his head.

All depends on the manager and whether he gets a Michael Owen or Theo Walcott chance at Int tournament debut glory. If it's the first then I've not doubt he'll go down a Euros storm. But if it's the second then he'll just come back depressed he never even got the chance to play.
