It is true, and I’m not strictly talking about Christianity. Many of the customs, edicts and philosophical concepts that predate Christianity are still rooted in the religions of those peoples.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a bit chicken and egg, what came first someone telling someone else not to do something, or someone holding the threat of a man in the sky bolloking you if you did it anyway.

Opium production is gonna strike right back up with these fecking nut jobs to facilitate all of their lottery winning arms and more

No it will grind to a halt like last time the Taliban were in charge.

No idea why I'm defending the Taliban, but US are the expert drug dealers.

Opium has funded the Taliban and will continue to do so.

Financial doping has gone too far

School of thought, and some evidence, that when Mohammed went up the mountain he had a sesh on schrooms.

Thou shall not kill/

Thou shall not steal.

Thou shall not bear false witness.

3 of the 10 Commandments that are still the cornerstone of legal systems embraced by most nations and most religions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thou shalt not kill and thou shalt not steal date back in written legal codes to at least 1700BC.

So first video of them on the dodgems, then video of them on the merry go round eating candy floss and now a new one just been released of them on a trampoline playing and jumping, have they been on the opium?

For the West though rosso you really only have to look at the roots of English common law and Napoleonic code. That covers the vast majority of nations states that work off European legal ideas.

English common law was very tied to religious environment when it appeared in post Norman conquest England. And the Napoleonic code was inspired by Roman law from Justinian

The religious influence on these legal codes were more phased out rather than not existing originally imo

Seems an arbitrary amount of time to track back. Why ignore the antecedents of the Biblical proclamations?

It’s like claiming that the roots of modern rock music lie in 1950’s rock n’ roll and ignoring the preceding blues and country music.

Fun fact about the image of white Jesus that is used in the western world as the ‘this is what he looks like’..

It was based upon Michaelangelo’s (the artist, not the turtle) gay lover Tommasso Dei Cavalieri.

So all those homophobic Christians out there have been praying to some gay fantasy from the painter of the image 😅

I dont consider it arbitrary to look to where the current legal systems was codified originally. Certain points in history have more significance than others, its not all equally important as far as causality goes

Taliban nothing to do with us. We have our own problems here in UK which we should be trying to solve. Like getting more lorry drivers

In all honesty, we can impose our British values on those in our country, but we have no right to impose our values on others. Let them live how they want to live.

Women in the UK suffer so much domestic abuse. Rape levels are not exactly zero are they?

Why are we worrying about what happens in another godforsaken country. We can spend all that money improving our own country.

Our foreign policy is a joke.

I’m using the term religion quite liberally, but it doesn’t really change the point. Theism, to be more accurate, has long been intertwined with the state.

An Afghan interpreter whose permission to come to the UK was revoked last week despite a death sentence has told how his home in Kabul was raided by the Taliban.

Ahmadzai, who is now in hiding with his family, said that working for the British forces “was my mistake”. He added: “Not only have I risked my life and made the Taliban want to kill me, but I’ve also risked the life of my kids.”

Patel is trying to palm this poor bloke off on countries that take in more refugees than she cares to.

Isn’t the problem that these people don’t want to live like that?

Taliban has just promised that the £350m per week it's saving by not having a government will be spent on it's health service.

Trump has really played a blinder with this one. Set Biden up to fail and the media are going to town on him. Trump literally made it impossible for this pullout to go any way other than it has done.
