Arsenal to be their feeder club like they were with City? They already have Willock.

Genuinely trying to think of a player from Arsenal that Newcastle might want. I mean Arsenal are below us and we are utterly terrible

that's a very interesting take.
despite throwing money away year after year, inept back office and frankly poor strategy the machine that is Manchester United keeps going.
now you guys on the other hand, riding the wave of one mans success with a team stronger than the sum of its parts, yet as this summer showed, not exactly flush.
if Newcastle are gonna take a few years to catch up, Klopp has probably gone, id say you and arsenal would be most at risk medium term without a change in your ownerships respectively.
Oh really bye United is it? Bet you love that to happen. I’m sure it will be Liverpool fans moaning about Newcastle in a few years.
Still have a long way to go.
Everton and Villa have already burnt through about half a billion quid each in transfers over the past 3-4 seasons.
Probably double that, if you factor in wages and other expenses.

I've heard today they've been linked to Watkins and Calvert Lewin to buy in January. Just the sort of players I can now imagine Newcastle going for to get the ball rolling.
yeah if you look at the first wave of city players post take over, Robinho aside, they weren't exactly top tier.
better than they had but not the likes they can go for now.

Robinho was only ever an overrated stepover merchant. It was when City got players like Silva, Toure and Aguero that you knew they meant business.

Even those three when we bought them weren’t like galactico signings. All three turned out ridiculously good.

They weren't huge names but all proven quality players.
Absolutely. It’s a difficult strategy to replicate though. Plenty of proven quality players haven’t turned out as good acquisitions for clubs too.
Well that's the luxury of having so much money to spend. You can keep spending on quality players so you'll have a better chance of getting those ones who will be hits to compensate for the misfires.
It’s only like City superficially.
To an extent, you’ve still only got a finite amount you can have as part of a squad and those misfires now due to ffp can significantly limit the time it takes to progress. Everton being a prime case in point.
Wouldn't say Everton are exactly going for those top quality players though that City were/are. I mean the richer you are, generally the better the calibre of player you'll be able to attract.
I think the amount of money City has can detract from how well run they are.
They're well run, but then they can afford the best people to help run it.

They were going for the same level of player we were in the first proper build, they made more errors than we did though and didn’t have anywhere near the safety net we did of being able to spend more at times if it didn’t work out, which is where Newcastle will also find it hard.

Even that was a risk that paid off, to be fair. We had plenty of pessimism for hiring Soriano and Begiristain in particular.
