Conte has won only 3 of his last 15 CL games as a coach. Maybe he's not the answer eh?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ole has lost 7 of his last 12. Right now the CL is hardly the main priority. It’s getting back to winning the league title and there are few better than Conte
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't think he'd win the title with this team. It needs a few windows before it's a true Conte team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He needs a DM and a RWB to win the title. His formation requires we play 3 at the back which we don't have the personnel at RW. Even Shaw is better as a FB rather than LWB. Telles would be a regular starter under Conte.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

City, Liverpool and Chelsea all agreed that then? 😂

Like it's a formality
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you prefer to face the likes of Pep, Klopp and Tuchel with Ole at the wheel or would you prefer to have Zidane in our dugout?
The narrative would instantly change and the likes of Klopp and Tuchel would definitely think twice about their game plan when facing a Zidane managed team with Ronaldo and Cavani in attack
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I said this when we hired LVG and Jose. Ole has probably got closer than both did despite not being good enough either. 😂

On paper you'd rather go with Zidane than Ole for sure. However I know how it will end up. Zidane out. Football is crap. And you will be posting the articles.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thing is with LVG and Jose we at least won the minnow trophies. With Ole we are "nearly men" and looks like this season will be similar. How long do players like Bruno would want to stay?

Zidane left Madrid as soon as the going got tough tbf and his best players started to age.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He still managed to get to the CL semi's and in the race for league title till the last day. Had Suarez not scored the winning goal in the 2nd half, Zidane would have won the league title too. Accept it he is the best bet we have in facing Pep and Klopp.

Utd have the 4th best squad in the league.

Anything finishing higher than 4th is an overachievement.

That is true there there are some qualifications for that like we saw last season

Take Salah out and you'd be in the battle for top 4.

How many more manager reboots is everyone prepared to take? We can put aside Ole debate as I think we all know there is little chance he can turn it around.

I think if the next manager, whoever that may be, fails it just shows that nothing is going to change.

The next time we win the PL or CL I think the club will be under new ownership personally.

Why would I take Salah out? He's arguably the best player in the world.

It doesn’t matter what manager you bring in we are not going to win anything with the midfield players we have.

This issue has been left to fester since LVG tried to fix it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Perhaps the next manager will be smart enough to bring in midfielders.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bit hard when the window is closed.

We just keep going until we get the right manager. The glazer element is only relevant if the managers we have are failing after not making stupid decisions on the touchline week after week.

It’s a few weeks away from opening. While I don’t expect Ole to be leaving imminently, if by chance a better manager came in say, tomorrow I’d imagine they’d set up our existing midfield well enough to do better until the window opened

It can take a few...

Wilf McGuinness - disaster
Briefly Busby again
Frank O'Farrell - disaster
The Doc - Fun while it lasted
Sexton - Worse than LVG to watch
Big Ron - Wildly inconsistent

Liverpool had the same sort of thing in their 30 years without a title just winning cups.

If you get a new manager in mid way, they can properly assess the squad and then go into the summer window with a far better idea of what they need
----------------------------------------------------------------------
the last time we did this we spent £130m on maguire and wan-bissaka

The sooner we accept SAF was an anomaly the better really.

To the people saying "What had we sacked Fergie" in 1989 you could also say "What if we hadn't sacked Big Ron in 1986".

I don't want Ole to be sacked of course but I do think we are at the 'goodbye' stage now. At this stage I'd be astounded if he turned it around. That doesn't mean I don't want it to happen though.

This isn't regarding OGS in particular but instead any time clubs/fans say managers should get until the end of the season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but it's also possible the manager you actually want isn't available until the end of the season. And I'd rather wait for the right man than rush into a Conte/Zidane, neither of whom I think are really the best options to take us through the next 3/4 years.

Fwiw though I do think Rodgers would be tempted from Leicester mid-season. And I wouldnt be against that tbh.

Yes so we keep revolving managers till we find someone who wins consistently. Thats how it works. You don't just give the current one infinite time and infinite funds and hope for the best.

Yes. But our resident Champions of mediocrity want to turn their noses away from it because they think it's not the "United Way".

The solution is quite simple. Find the best manager possible and give them time and money, but review after 2 seasons. We haven’t done that since SAF left.

It is ten weeks away from opening. Not a few. And you know as well as the rest of us how difficult it is to get specific players in the middle of the season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Indeed it is but we got Bruno mid season a couple of years back and if, say Conte took over in November and said he needed a CM in Jan for us to compete it’s not an impossible ask.

And as I said in the part of my comment you conveniently ignored, there’s every chance that Conte (or whoever) doesn’t make the same tactical mistakes with his midfield selection that Ole weirdly makes. I don’t for one second think we have a world class selection of midfielders but I’m certain we can set up a lot better to get the best out of them.

We got Bruno in the winter transfer window. No way we should not be getting a DM too unless the manager thinks we don't need one.

Is there going to be one of these articles every day ?

I think they should be a least preceded by another bad performance, defeat or flakey bout of substitutions or there is nothing really new to say.
