Hopefully they go for Conte to save us from him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We'll just be sacking Ole by the time he walks out on Barca at the end of the season. Thankfully then he'll turn us down because we're a circus.

Use your head, Cinci, he'd be a disaster with our board. He's a man who goes to war with his employers.

Robb who would you prefer Poch or Conte?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Barry, that’s a good question. Ideally Poch as he seems by far and away the most suitable potential manager that United need. And from all accounts he’s a hugely popular guy at board level at United and I’m sure they wish we’d gotten him last year when he was available. Knowing PSG he may well be available at the end of the season.

But I think in the immediacy our players need someone like Conte to come in, give them a kick up the ass and drill them tactically into some sort of team rather than a bunch of individuals.

Ideal scenario is Conte for a couple of seasons where we pick up a league title and perhaps an FA cup then Poch takes over

And anyone that thinks he'll walk into United and win the league straight away is on drugs. The bad kind as well.

What does the OP mean when;he says this is going to be Us with Ole ? It’s not like Koemans been in the job long.

I think it's more that Koeman has been on borrowed time with the Barca board since the summer, if not before. Whilst Ole has only been on borrowed time at United since Sunday.

Xavi expected to takeover. That's not going to end well for them unless it's only as caretaker. Be similar situation to us with Ole.

Ten Hag is their choice it seems but doesn't want to leave Ajax mid season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They'd always planned to have Xavi take over eventually though, hadn't they? So not quite the same as us just stumbling upon Ole, then giving him the job permanently. Could well end the same way though. They're a mess and Xavi is unproven.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
errr, I think United had always penciled in Ole as a future manager

Fun fact, only twice in all of SAFs title winning seasons did he outscore what Conte managed in 16/17

Had they? It's news to me. He managed our reserves, sure. That doesn't mean he'd been pencilled in as our manager. In fact, after he left in 2011, I'd never even heard it suggested. No surprise, as he didn't exactly elevate himself to a level to be considered to be appointed.

barca have a wage bill lower than Burnley now.

All their problems were caused by (a lack of) money

I would imagine most of the potential issues with Conte would be sorted out before he joined in the sense that he would demand total control over transfers which is what often gets him into trouble

Either

A) we give it to him and he’s the happiest he’s ever been
B) we don’t give it to him and we don’t hire him and the issues never arrive

yes he was touted as a future manager, despite how much that will pain and annoy some people in hindsight

So? Scoring goals isn’t an indication of attacking, entertaining football. Mourinho’s Madrid scored more goals than Pep’s Barca ever did in a season.

It certainly surprises me. I'm not sure who he was touted by but he wasn't mentioned much when Moyes, LVG or Jose were appointed. And bringing him in as an interim originally didn't smack of it being long term planning.

But if you day so...

And that Jose side were very entertaining that season. I’m not professing that Conte will come in and make us Dortmund 2011 but if we win the league in the next couple of seasons with a points total of 93 and a goals scored total of 85 then I doubt anyone is gonna call that season ‘dull and defensive’.
