I think Giggs was always touted as a future manager. That was the dream ticket.

Xavi expected to takeover. That's not going to end well for them unless it's only as caretaker. Be similar situation to us with Ole.

Had they? It's news to me. He managed our reserves, sure. That doesn't mean he'd been pencilled in as our manager. In fact, after he left in 2011, I'd never even heard it suggested. No surprise, as he didn't exactly elevate himself to a level to be considered to be appointed.

It certainly surprises me. I'm not sure who he was touted by but he wasn't mentioned much when Moyes, LVG or Jose were appointed. And bringing him in as an interim originally didn't smack of it being long term planning.

There must be something in it though, merry, for him to be brought in as that interim. Like they'd had him on the radar when he was working with the reserves, then saw him go off and achieve with Molde. You don't put someone in charge of Manchester United because he scored a winner in a Champions League final, no matter what some of the halfwits on here will tell you.

🤣 I'm sure there would be some games where he'd attack but he'd resort to type pretty quickly I reckon.

He didn't actually start his first season at Chelsea very well if I remember correctly, then after getting torn a new one in the first half against Arsenal he switched to the 3 centre backs and 2 holding midfielders and (ironically) never looked back that season.

I also remember them playing some good stuff beating us 4-0 and also going to Peps City and playing some of the most intense football and winning a great game.

Again, not saying it’ll be entertaining but it really won’t be as bad as you’re implying. The positives will far outweigh the negatives as he’s probably one of the few managers out there who can do what needs to be done to our players

We’ve played some good stuff under Moyes, LVG, Mourinho and Ole. But there’s been a theme of uninspiring football, much like Conte. He just gets better results and performances.

I can't take the Conte idolatry, it's ridiculous. Night all.

I would appoint Sean Dysche just to run the feckers into the ground, he would probably do brilliantly with a talented squad, never get the chance as not fashionable but our prima donnas deserve some good old boot up the ass
