I really don't know what it is, its so frustrating and I'm in the same boat as you (followed Spurs since 94).
It's a poison running through our blood and I have no idea how we eradicate it.
nothing highlights the lack of mentality at the club more than our semi final -> trophy win conversion ratio, which I am convinced is the worst in global professional football.
what is it 8 FA cup semi final defeats in a row? including ones against newcastle and portsmouth etc, not always man united and chelsea.

Thinking about this some more over the long term like you say we dont really have any consistency in what we do. For a brief period under Poch we certainly had an identity you knew how we were going to play a high pressing style and players would have to fit into that or be shipped out. After this we have just reverted to type like the 1990's where we go from one mess to the next no real identity hoping a signing here or there will solve our issues.
We have moved up the rich list league table but on the playing side its one philosophy to the next with the current favourite being the high profile manager.

take yesterday for example..... at 2-1 you surely see it out, at home against southampton, crowd with you, they offered little second half, we offered quite a bit.
so you concede, ok, whatever you do, DO NOT LOSE THE GAME. if you cannot win it then you take the disappointing point and move on.
but to concede a replica goal two minutes after. literally a replica goal, is just absolutely pathetic. its so so pathetic.

Not sure its relevant mate...... This spurs team is a reflection of Enic..... Doing everything possible to win football games is not their priority
Mostly weak mentality and poor players.
Oh how I long for the serial winners of 50 years ago and longer.
It’s a funny thing with Spurs because not so long ago we needed (I think) to win 3 games against Arsenal Chelsea and Man City to qualify for the CL. We turned up in each of these and got the 9 points.
We always fack up against the likes of Southampton, who no doubt will get battered in their next game whether it be Man City or Burnley.
You need a big upgrade in defence and a deep lying midfield player like Brozovic to play a 343. I would play with a 4312 until the end of the season. Bentacur in a midfield three and Kulu behind Son and Kane.
It seems from the top. They're not interested in how we perform on the pitch. They'll always do the bare minimum on the footballing side and invest all time and money into the property side.

Totally agree.
I can accept it in one off freak games but this kinda sh"te has been going on for 30 odd years. It's facking basic stuff.
I think I am losing patience with the 3-4-3. we dont have the personnel. we have to go to a 3-5-2, and we have looked better every time we have shifted to that system.
in a 3-4-3 your CM paid need to be outstanding, and we just dont have that. Bentancur and Skipp could develop into that.. maybe... but lets say they do, as soon as one misses a game, you can no longer play the 3-4-3.
I think we have to see out the season in 3-5-2, and then if we are insistant on 3-4-3 then after RWB, 2 TOP CMs becomes the priority. yesterday shows what happens if you have substandard players in the centre mid... you are just nowhere in the game.
yesterday was like us v Leicester in reverse really just with them scoring their equaliser and winner a lot earlier.
we deserved the 3 points vs Leicester and narrowly got them. Southampton deserved the 3 points yesterday and they narrowly got them.
big reaction vs Wolves required, but depressingly unlikely.
even if we do play well i just cant see us winning many by 3 or even 2.
that Palace game was an exception with their first half red card and some other mitigating factors.

A press resistant player under pressure in midfield is also needed. A player like Dembele. The amount of times I saw Winks and Hojberg losing the ball in pressure situations was the reason of not controling the game. Conte likes zonal defending in midfield but that doesn't work in this league.
This is a squad built to finish 6/7th
Anything more will be a Conte shaped miracle
