Kane played like a man with a point to prove last night. City mugged him off in the summer. Convinced him to act like a prize khant and then left him stranded by only offering half of his worth.

You could tell by his celebration how much it meant to him.

Just because he is good. Cant see a reason to dislike him. Worse thing he has done was swear on his daughter for that Eriksen goal that he said he touched.

The lack of trophies criticism has always been a dumb one. You cannot say he hasn't done his bit to try and get Spurs some trophies. It's a team sport, not an individual one. Just because he isn't Drogba in finals doesn't change that.

This. It really winds me up mate. Shearer was hardly riddled with Trophies his whole career, yet is lauded as one of the best English strikers ever. I agree a player of Harrys class should be winning trophies, but that doesn’t take away what a class act he is

Kane was excellent yesterday and was man of the match by a Mile but when you see a performance like that it highlights how poor he's been (by his own standards) in recent months.

The only criticism he gets that I pay any attention to is from Spurs supporters and the majority of that has been fair this season. Now I want to see him and the rest of the team carry on that level of performance at Burnley and Leeds.

As a side issue we must be on target to win the award for must off side goals in the Prem this season. It drives me mad and stops me celebrating until VAR decides the outcome. I was sure the winner would be ruled out yesterday and was so relieved that it was onside.

The Shearer comparison is a valid one Don. Like Shearer, we know that if they'd played for one of the real big teams their careers would be drenched in trophies. It doesn't detract from how good they are.

Shearer has been begging Kane to leave Spurs for about 5 seasons, anyone would think he was his agent.

Such a shame we never turned up for the CL final as winning that would of killed the trophy talk stone dead.

Some of the criticism is fair. I certainly think it's fair to have a go at him for the free kick taking, that winds me up.

You are correct about the level he showed yesterday and how this should have been what we saw earlier in the season from him. He was masterful and that's got to be one of his best ever performances. The fact that he has the lowest shot conversion % of the top 25 goal scorers shows he hasn't really been at the races this season but he looks more like his old self under Conte.

I’m going to have to disagree on this point.

Kane has played in:

x2 League Cup Finals
x1 Champions League Final
x1 European Championship Final

and scored a grand total of zero goals. Drogba, on the other hand, wasn’t the most prolific striker, but scored in finals (I remember the league cup against us, FA Cup Final winner v United, Champions League Final v Bayern).

Even looking through Kanes semi final record - and he’s been in plenty - I can only remember one penalty in the League Cup v Chelsea, a goal against Chelsea in the FA Cup, and a penalty rebound v Denmark.

Big time players turn up in big games, and on the whole, I don’t feel he does.

Yesterday Kane physically grabbed that game by the scruff on the neck - he was incredible - but he hasn’t done that too often or for some time.

He’s a fantastic player, playing at his peak yesterday, and a major reason why we challenged for so long a few years ago, but I’m afraid to say he’s also a reason why we never turned those challenges into trophies.

He'll go down as one of the greatest strikers the prem has seen. It's weird the hate he gets from rival fans. As a person he's an excellent role model and as a footballer he's world class.

You compare him to someone like Salah who is also a world class footballer and top bloke. Like Kane the only negative trait he has is he dives. Yet he's recognised as such by everyone. None of this tap in merchant, flat track bully nonsense.

I think there's a stigma that English player's can't be technically brilliant and world class.

Neither team really turned up. Just a lack of quality did us in the end.

If we can play like we did yesterday there's no reason we can't go on and win the FA Cup, providing we aren't hit with injuries.

Absolute caaant of a player, whose constantly pointless, often dangerous, fouls presumably go unpunished by referees, and are never a topic for discussion in the media, due to him being England captain.

That usually goes missing for the national team also hardly endear him to supporters of other PL teams.

That said, I still think I’ve seen Spurs supporters moan about him more this season, than fans of every other PL team combined.

Still... he played well yesterday, eh.

It does put a slightly different slant on it when you consider that Kane plays for Spurs. I'm not saying he couldn't do more in finals because he could but the better teams will generally offer you better opportunities to score, and have a better winning mentality throughout the team.

For sure. Totally valid point. But he’s on target to be the PLs top goal scorer ever and Englands top goal scorer. He clearly gets service, and during the Poch era we did hit a number Semi Finals in a short space of time - so surely he turns up in one of them, eventually.

As far as I’m concerned, he’s already a legend. BUT, if the question is why does he get criticism, I think some of it is valid: he needs to prove more regularly he is capable of being a big game player. He’ll, if Spurs get the FA Cup final and lose 3-2 and he scored two, there’s no trophy for that but at least he can say he turned up.

Many on here have been very critical of him, including Shandy who believe that he never turns up in big games, should be ashamed of them selves have no idea about football at all, definitely the best all round striker Spurs have had apart from Greaves but he couldn't do what Harry does

posted on 20/2/22

He’s definitely one of the best strikers in the world. That is why the no trophies thing is levelled at him.
