Wolves v Brighton Match Day [LIVE]

Another one of those games that a few weeks back looked like potential points towards European qualification. I'm somewhat less optimistic now, I think it will depend on whether Podence and Neves are available, Podence in particular makes a big difference to our attacking options.

Games against Brighton have always been tight recently and their recent form has been good. We don't draw games theses days so I reckon whoever scores first wins this one.

Neves is being integrated back into training this week and all being well will be available for the Brighton game.

Podence has a toe injury and hasn’t kicked a ball for a couple of weeks. Less optimism about him being ready for the weekend. Also doubts about Kilman who limped out of training last week and is being assessed

John Percy (generally a reliable source) is reporting that we are looking seriously at Valencia striker Goncalo Guedes. 11 La Liga goals this season. Another Raul or another Jose?

We're also looking at 19 year old Reims forward Hugo Ekitike. If Wikipedia is to be believed, he scored 10 in 23 for Reims in the first half of this season but then sent him on loan to Denmark Superliga club Veije. Seems a bit odd that.

Not the compulsory Portuguese?

That Ekitike seems to be on the wanted list of most teams in the Premier League. Looks good from his YouTube highlights though

Guedes has a good record of assists and would cost big bucks, happy with that but surely we would need to offload a striker and get a creative up and down midfielder anyway

If we didn't spunk it on Hwang and probably on Trincao we could easily have the money to do so.

Gonna miss this game as well, 4am kick off here i think, feck that.

We've been linked with Guedes for about 3 years now.

First live game for me for a while, complicated train journey as nothing from Euston

What's going on wit the trains hctl? I'm heading down to the smoke next weekend, not for the Chelsea game unfortunately.

Just reading about those train issues with major work being done over the bank holiday that disrupts services from Euston going north.

Did read, hctl, that to get to Wolverhampton the recommended train leaves Marleybone about 10, change at Banbury, then arrive Wolverhampton around 13:00.

There is a train back leaving Wolves at 17:45 change at Birmingham, arriving Marleybone about 20:45

Three and a half weeks now until the last day of the Premier League season and all matches previously postponed for various reasons now have new dates, except one. No new date yet agreed for the Wolves v Man City game that was postponed due to City playing in the FA Cup Semi Final on the original date.

Seems that the delay is down to Sky fitting the fixture into their schedule. City have no fixtures in the midweek of May 11th but Sky already have games scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday that week. So seems inevitable the game will be in the midweek of the 18th May, making it the penultimate game of the season and giving Wolves a season ending with matches against City and Liverpool.

Liverpool play Southampton on Tuesday the 17th so the game at Molineux looks likely to be on the 18th or 19th.

Man City game is confirmed for May 11th according to Sky.

8.15pm kick off, that's a late one!

Yup, BBC fixture list has us down for the 11th as goldi says.

There are no more Wolves games scheduled for live broadcast for the remainder of the season.

Yes new time announced about an hour after I wrote my post. Maybe they felt pressured to resolve after my rant.

10:15 finish means a late trip home for the non locals.

At least it means our last home game will be against Norwich so the Molineux masses can head into summer with a smile (hopefully)

Just read this on the athletic:

"Origi, who has not started a top-flight game for 15 months, would have been sold last summer if Liverpool’s asking price of around £15 million had been met. Klopp was shocked that no one came calling."

What are we playing it paying 12m for Hwang but passing on Origi?

Posted as soon as reading it in frustration, interestingly the article goes on to say...

"Liverpool agreed a fee of £22 million with Wolves the following summer [unclear if 2018 or 2019] but Origi turned down the move."

posted on 27/4/22

Origi would have been, still would be, an excellent buy. Much better than Hwang

About 1,000 tickets went on general sale today for the last home game of the season against Norwich. The canaries have only taken the upper tier of the North Bank quadrant to watch their funeral so there will probably be more Wolves supporters at this match than any game all season
