If Robinson can get himself in shape, we might have a decent opening pair for the post-Broad-and-Anderson era...

For once we pick a bowler who has performed in county cricket and it pays off.

The Kiwi top order can be got at if you bowl to take wickets. Jamie Porte ran through them in the second innings at Chelmsford last week.

Porter is unfortunately seen as too short and too slow for England. Sam Cook will suffer the same treatment although I think he's even better than Porter but his 78/79mph pace will be seen as too slow despite being immaculate and relentless with line and length.

Pleased for Potts though, he's come from nowhere, was potentially being pigeon holed into white ball cricket but really wanted to push his red ball credentials this season. He's been excellent for Durham on different grounds and he's been excellent today.

Let’s hope whatever was on the menu for lunch is better than what they’ve had in recent times.

Agreed on their respective paces being too slow for test cricket although Sam Cook has upped his pace a bit over the last two seasons. I am quite happy for them not to be picked by England.
